I agree, everything should be unlocked. We have pvp gear that a healer can wear and they look like a damn paladin (Furious deity set). The only thing that should be locked is artifact gear.

Can you guess which jobs these are?
Every update to this game further invalidates the argument for keeping glamour restrictions.
Yoshi P actually said it very recently as in just about a month ago.idk when yoshi p said that but I'm sure it must have been years ago because nowadays with all the all-class glamour crafted gear and whatnot, everyone looks like everyone else
plus there is plate gear for casters/healers now, and robes for tanks
identifying jobs by their appearance has not been a thing for years. Just let people do what they want
This is from page 146 of this thread.Welp, we got a official answer from SE regarding this, and it's not looking very good
In WeskAlber's latest vid, he asks either Yoshi P or another SE staff about being able to glam other roles gear. They say they're mostly sticking to keeping roles with their standard attire, but understand that glam is a big part of the game, as if they try to satisfy our need for plate armoured casters with trip fed PvP and Bozja gear.
Seems like they don't plan to do this, but I implore everyone to NEVER EVER stop asking! The only way we will get this is if we scream on the forums and Reddit and such for this to be a feature at the top of our lungs for as long as this game lasts. Then and only then will we have a shot of getting this implemented.
So just because we got a answer we don't like, doesn't mean this thread has to die, keep asking for this, I implore you all.
As for proof, not sure if the forum allows YouTube links, so I'm gonna spilt in in two below so you can copy and paste. Go to 4:40 on the video to see the Q and A about this.

Tbh this should have been a thing from the start, I hate that healer always gets a white gown, and am pigeon holed into doing boring pvp to get the plated armour, but Yoshida will say "the code doesn't allow it" and people will just be like "oh ok" meanwhile people in their basements have already made it so you can wear what you like, so why can't SE hmmm
Yes, but only bc I farmed two of em.
At least the Healer one will let me dress up my healer glams like my Shadowrun Rigger.
Still sucks mch does not get to use the soldiers rifles and armor.
Years ago?
Nah, it was one month, lol, this is a recent take
"Naoki Yoshida:
Again, from a technical standpoint, it’s not impossible to do. But that said, looking at the jobs that are available throughout the final fantasy series, it would feel awkward say if a Black Mage jumped into an instanced dungeon with full plate armor. I think we want to maintain the image that we’ve depicted through these different jobs that are available in the series.
That said, Final Fantasy XIV has been around for 10+ years at this point now and we understand that glamour and having different gearsets in terms of appearance, cosmetic elements, is a big part of players’ play style, and we totally understand that. So, there have been, in passing, conversations that would be brought up amongst even the team mates saying, “Should we consider opening it up?” “When should we do that?” Of course it’s still not anything that’s set in stone, but we do want to look to having more freedom for our players for sure."

His reasoning doesn't make sense since we already have plate options for BLM anyway (Bozja and PvP say hi), as well as a lot of pieces being shared amongst the different roles now, not to mention bikini tanks existing ever since glamour got introduced. Engine limitations are also not an excuse because they just admitted that they can do it, just that they don't want to.
I'd still prefer it if AF gear was also unlocked, even FFXI allows AF gear outside its main job for cosmetics, but I'll happily take that middle ground of keeping it locked if it meant the rest of the gear was unlocked.
#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
Healers have been neglected for 3 expansions now and this needs to be rectified with the following:
- An engaging DPS kit beyond a nuke and DoT.
- Increased incoming damage so we have more to heal.
- Distinctive playstyles amongst the healers.
- Some nerfs to non-healer heals, we shouldn't be replaceable.
yeah, there's no excuse. What is yoshi smoking.Years ago?
