Wuk Lamat & DT Story are the best for the FFXIV-Story

World Building my ass

You have Hanuhanu who are implied as stupid because they forgot their own culture and why their festival is important to the reeds, and it takes someone nearby not from their culture to help them fix the problem.
You have the Yok Huy, who apparently have an empire that only left ruins behind in convenient locations for MSQ service and not much else.
You have the X'braal who get no decent cultural world building outside of, we live in the same zone as the Mamool Ja and have been fight each other for hundreds of years until Galool came along and made us get along.
You have the Moblins who may as well not exist as they barely have any impact anywhere.

And finally you have the Mamool Ja who apparently have such a inferiority complex they decided to breed children with a low success rate in an attempt to make super people for hundreds of years, to acquire land? Except they forgot to tell that to the guy they bred who has been ruling over them for 80 years who knows their plight and basically said "ok bros move to Tuliyolal or stay in your shitty dark jungle with no good farms, i dont care" Not to mention all the other 2 heads they bred who also abandoned them, they sound like a bunch of dumbasses. oh but hey Wuk showed up and said, stop doing that and my Sharlayan friends will give you seeds that grow in the dark Jungle, hundreds of years of inferiority gone just like that, Great world building bro.

The Mammol Ja one is really upsetting because they could have gone ANYWHERE ELSE on the continent since it seems like there is a lot of space with no one to dispute the land. Like come on, there's a ton of jungle with no one in it, is it really that necessary to wage war against your neighbours when you can just move to a place where there's nobody ?

It'd be great if WoL did anything like that in DT. If we are Gandalf where's our "fly you fools" moment when these world-ending threats start propping up that are clearly beyond Wuk Lamat's ability to handle? And even for smaller threats, it's not that WoL is deliberately choosing to allow Wuk Lamat handle it. We pull out our weapon, clearly intending to intervene, then just don't because we are told not to. We let characters die because we are too meek to intervene when told not to.

That's not a character of agency, let alone Gandalf.

Yes worldbuilding if you rely on more than just the one line you quote from the people from the different zones.

Still doesn't change the fact that Wuk Lamat is just an annoying thing that drags on from level 90 to 100.
Her whole character is so immature that as a WoL I'm ashamed to have placed her on the throne.
If we hadn't helped Wuk Lamat, the first prince would have been placed on the throne (probably) and we'd at least have a second Stormblood, but what we've been presented with here is boring as hell.

The first part of the story was "okay". Let me put it this way: What sold me on Dawntrail is that it looks like it would be the vacation day expansion where we get to do stupid stuff without having to worry about a world ending threat, and even if this involved having to go through some succession story with a Naruto Sat AM cartoon character in the first part it would be worth it. Then we get to the wild west lands and it feels at least okay since now it feels like Wuk Lamat's thing is over with, only to get roped into another bunch of sequences where we are stuck nodding half the time when the story would have gone a completely different direction if the WoL could actually have agency. It was the most painful final stretch of an expansion I've been stuck in and that isn't stated lightly. A lot of games tend to rush the last part of the story like they ran out of time.

I was kinda sad that new world was already so united, expected some internal politics and whatnot but its mostly just exposition of the great empire with little to no internal issues.

Honestly...what would happen is our char wasnt there for the story at all? Our char did absolutly nothing but standing around and being a literall nuke with what Wuk could threaten the others. Aside from that? Nothing would have changed if the wol wasnt there. We had no significance at all to the story. Even the second half...Wuk solved basically everything on his own. Call in the scions for the last part...but thats it. We were there to look at the writers awful self insert furry persona. And don't let me mention the terrible VA of this character...played on english since arr...because i love the voices, especially my beloved Urianger, which has been rendered to 12 sentences! Turned to german again today because couldnt stand Wuks emotionsless Voice we have to suffer in the final trial whenever we get it in the roulette.

This exactly. It kind of ends up downplaying Wuk's whole "love and peace for everyone" when the world is already shown...at peace. Sure, you have a handful of people express that they to expand and others who want more technology, but there's never any "real" friction that takes places around them outside of your anime bandit syndrome. They HINT at issues but never fully address them either, they're just plot devices to make thing happen and then to carry on afterwards.
