That’s the thing we don’t know enough to say that definitively

We know that Alexandria is still there (well at least living memory ever since the other 11 levels are now in the source) but we know nothing outside of that and we know that Alexandria put the barrier up against a calamity of lightning and that ever since the barrier went up there has been no communication nor attempt to breach the barrier into the everkeep

    So this could be
    1) Alexandria came from one of the 4 remaining unaccounted for shards and the inter dimensional fusion simply ripped it out of that shard while living memory remains still within the barrier
    2) Alexandria was cut adrift when the 12th was absorbed as the barrier protected it, Alexandria become the remaining shreds of the 12th

We don’t know enough to prove either way, the ascians specifically did calamities in a particular order, it seems strange they would randomly decide to do another calamity of lightning

I’m not saying Alexandria is the 12th but I can be argued either way as we simply don’t know, we have no evidence that Alexandria’s barrier couldn’t have protected it against the rejoining and as such it isn’t really the “12th” just a bubble of reality cut lose when the shard it was tethered to was rejoined

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

I knew I would be a minority because while the gpose options are fun, the that second that I entered Living Memory I was heartbroken because once again the devs created a zone area that was supposed to fill me with wonderful and nostalgic familiarity and love - and I hated it. I viscerally dislike dense urban skyscrapers, the yellow light was Azys Lla in its garishness, the fake theme park was all the bad memories of Disney World exhaustion (THANK YOU for the one negative dialogue option). And the pandering on FFIX nostalgia was as bad if not worse than anything in Endwalker, post-patch or otherwise.

Then we kill it. Which thematically works for the themes of accepting death and that this place and people are a digital copy illusion already crumbling. And what's left? Now the zone is triggering the right Final Fantasy nostalgia for me. Now we are in the end of FFX. Here's Inside Sin. Her are the living statues of the fayth finally getting the release that they engineered the entire game to win and turning to stone. If the zone stayed the same it would be Amaurot all over again (even more than it is). And it's the perfect inverse of Ultima Thule's tribal/society questline.

Going there post MSQ is very...grey/depressing and not a place I want to linger at all. It's poignant and bitter tasting that we couldn't find a way forward without ending what was created there. Yes, the original version was pretty in its own way, but also really sad and hollow feeling as well. I mean parts of it were just facades like in the water zone.

I'd rather see it become a place of joy, peace, and remembrance. Bring real beauty and some life back to it without the garishness of all the theme park stuff...kind of like what we did with the Last Dregs over the next few patches. A place to celebrate the lives of the everyone. Plus there are important cultural locations like the Cleyra Museum of Nature, the Daguerro Medical Collection, and the Steps of the Speaker that shouldn't be left to rot in obscurity.

We can't be done with the location...the stinger ending left a lot of loose threads to pull on like the crown and the fact people were still using/wearing the regulators.

I kind of want to see the new Eureka/Bozja equivalent be more of an expansion of the location map 6 takes place on just to get more map zones from there.

Its musical theme is distant and faded. Everyone's gone... but the place they loved and lived in still remains. When we first entered, it was a theme park for ghosts; now, the theme park is a ghost, too.

I find that far more beautiful than when the lights were on.
    I agree.

In fact, if anything, it made the side-quests more engaging.

The skybox is no longer atrocious and the zone very clearly has living plants and animals native to whatever Shard it is, which can easily reclaim and cover the electrope. The thing is, we have no idea what's on that Shard outside Alexandria's dome. Could be nothing, could be the equivalent of the Empty- or could be a recovered post-Calamity world. And Living Memory was their Azys Lla - a floating relic of a past high-tech civilization that almost ended their world through war and resource mismanagement, complete with a zone full of androids trying to carry out their tour guide duties, all protected and isolated by a circle barrier. That would be the funniest and most exciting way to tie the Living Memory zone into a future plot and give the zone purpose. We return there in patch 7.55 to find a party of new NPCs in the middle of their Heavenswards final zone questline equivalent and join in.

I love Disney more world than land, but even for me I was all oh gods its just Epcot with a splash of the land of Oz. I kind of liked that when you turned off parts the music in that area would stop playing. Or at least that's what happened to me. I wish that it would have stayed that way to be honest. I understand the appeal to want to take gposes with its bright vibrant colors, but for me I was very much nope this looks like some people's ToS breaking screen shots and I partly couldn't wait to pull the plug.

I had done a Disney World trip a few years ago and found the experienced soured by the Genie+ and other cost gouging factors, so for as much fun as parts of it had been (Mostly Animal Kingdom and Epcot) the trip only convinced me to never go back to that theme park. So the zone was dredging up all the negative undercurrents. With that and the name-dropping of FFIX places and events, it felt almost like XIV was parodying its mission statement as a "Final Fantasy theme park as an MMO".

While I get what you're talking about, I actually thought when going through it that Epcot was a noticeable absence, which I thought was kind of tragic. Sure, it's Living Memory, it's a zone built entirely out of nostalgia, for people to relive what they remember most fondly, a 'city of tomorrow' or Tomorrowland equivalent wouldn't work... except that Alexandria's a world that managed to achieve a level of sci-fi tech. They made the Everkeep, Vanguard, presumably the city surrounding Living Memory itself, and it's a safe bet there were others before it was all lost.

Is there really not a single person in Alexandria that wants to relive the world that they made? Is every single positive memory worth reminiscing about from, going by Otis' age, centuries ago? Because to me, that may well be sadder than anything the zone actually says. Honestly, there's a lot of 'fridge logic' elements to that zone that just make it worse and worse, but in exactly the way it's supposed to be.

I was certain that the fourth area was going to be "And here's Yyasulani before Alexandria fused with it" as the fake memory version for all the newly incorporated Turali souls, because their memories were being added into the database, and that's why Cahcia was stored there.
