People will always assume the worst about FFXIV job changes, because they are almost always for the worse. This is the only game I play where I legitimately hold my breath when reading job patch notes because rather than just nerf things, they cut entire mechanics and elements that make jobs fun.

This honestly. I've seen a lot of complaints about a number of things, but I haven't found a high-traction thread that complained about viper for being too busy. It would be nice to know what the devs are referring to when they talk about feedback. Are they getting it from a place that isn't the forums? Was it maybe a JP thread? Where did they get this impression?

Anyway, as someone who watched my old favorite job (ast) get even more gutted in shb, and then gutted again in endwalker, and then even further gutted in dawntrail, all I can say is enjoy viper while you still can. It's crazy to me that they are changing it after just a week, based on some "feedback" that doesn't even seem to exist, but here we are. I'm sorry your favorite class is probably about to get steamrolled into being as boring and crappy as every other job in this basic ass game. These devs love nothing more than to change a job based on feedback written by people who hate that job on a fundamental level and were never going to play it anyway.

They can prevent "manipulation" by looking at the feedback critically (in this case the biggest criticism to negative feedback about viper gameplay would be "it's too early, they havent played it long enough"), and also by putting it into perspective with in-game metrics, which have a way of telling what players don't say. Like how many have switched to being viper mains versus how many people complain about viper.

This is also entirely baffling to me. Over 50% of the people playing Viper right now are never going to touch the job again once the "new expansion job luster" has worn off.
So you're essentially taking job defining feedback from people who are only there as a tourist, probably just want the job to play like some other job they played before and have Viper collecting dust in a month.

I still think the way jobs are released and picked up needs an overhaul but I'm afraid it sells job skips so it won't happen

But if all the higher level jobs are going to get catered to simpler and simpler design even if they release complicated, why even make me level to pick it up. Who are new jobs for? Veterans? New players?

Does Viper need to be accessible to people who just picked up FFXIV who.. have to level for ages before even getting a chance to try it?

Or does Viper need to be allowed to be complex because you have to level for ages before you can try it and catch up to current content to actually see the whole kit?

It feels like it's designed for no one and new players who are willing to buy a job skip lol
