This story is really underwhelming - it's opened to mixed reviews.

I've been here since 1.0 and ppl didn't even complain this much about that mess. At least those of us who stuck around were able to still have fun and waited on patches with excitement.

I am already done on my main, but I was angrily pushing through on an alt today and realized today that if I even bother sticking around for this full patch cycle (I tried WoW during the EW lull and it feels much better than DT) that I will likely be spending it without any investment in the story for the first time in 14 years. Add on top of that, the incoming 8 man looks horrendously over stimulating to my adhd brain so I will just not be partaking, making it even worse. And being a huge fan and long time player of FFXI, I am going to be super critical about that and if they mess it up its going to drive me even further away. And from what we have seen so far, I have no doubt that they are going to mess up their Vana'diel "tribute" to the point of near blasphemy. These new writers just do not have the chops, if they are even real ppl and not AI, cause they sure feel like AI in many ways.

I might be doing the same too, just pushing through the story with my alt. It really saddens me seeing how bad the story is, but even sadder seeing how some people are okay with it.
