Dawntrail- so many clenched fists

This is probably a silly thing to get hung up on in the grand scheme of things-and honestly, I don't want to pile on with more criticisms- but I haven't noticed anyone else posting about this: What was up with all the clenched fists? Every few cutscenes, I felt like we got a zoomed in closeup of someone (usually Wuk) dramatically clenching their fist. This happened throughout DT, but was particularly bad in Zone 5- Early 6.

I don't think I've ever noticed anything like this happening in FFXIV before. I have to wonder- does production sit down and watch full sections of cutscenes in a row? Like, one after the other for an entire zone? Because- this time- the repetition felt excessive.

Because it's a cliche, and the writers are amateurs who don't know how to convey emotion without it.

It's the same reason whenever something even remotely off-putting pops up Wuk Lamat has to make a silly face and go "I-I'm not scared!". Boats. Heights. Alpacas. Lava. Gets funnier every time. To them that's comedic writing. Definitely not a cliche trope of every clumsily written Mary Sue character.

as someone who plays a female highlander our fists are always clinched so i dont even notice it anymore

also clinched fists is an extremely popular anime trope, its a japanese MMO so get used to anime tropes cause this is how things are done in japan

This is a thing throughout the entire msq, not just DT.

In fact I wanted to make a compilation video, but I'm too lazy to watch all the cutscenes again.

I was wearing that one bikini/jacket combo (you know the one from the billboard?) 'cause beach episode, and just every other scene my wol was giving themselves a hearty squish squish.

Like I know it's a generic "leave it to me" emote, but like... can I do a thumbs up???

its happened in FFXIV for.. ever.

actually, I am likely wrong but I think DT actually has LESS clenched fists than the previous expansions. either that or I just dont even notice any more.

I'd take a million clenched fists over even *one* more cs where you hand an invisible item in your palm to a quest NPC.
