I'm a pretty avid reader, but it's kind of poor storytelling if I have to wait for a character to be redeemed and become likeable towards the very end, especially because she played such an enormous role in the MSQ. It's not surprising that people are having a hard time liking a story that revolves around a character that is supposed to be unlikeable until the very end. It would be like the entirety of a Star Wars movie revolving around Jar Jar Binks as the main character with 90% of the screen time, everyone would understandably hate it.

I don't mind unlikeable characters that grow throughout the story and have character development, I understand that. But you also need to have another character that we the reader/viewer need to relate to and like along the way or you just end up being annoyed that the focus is always on this character you are not even *supposed* to like until the end.
