Shows how much you know! She also learned to like Alpacas!Yeah. Wuk Lamat does not have character development. She's literally the same person she was when she started, with the minor exception that she isn't "afraid" to show weakness--which isn't character development at all; it's just her getting used to companions who don't care. She starts the game incredibly naive and cartoonish and ends the game the same way.
She's OK to me, but she truly reminded me of OG Naruto and that felt weird. You know, the really optimistic, quirky, cringe, fun character that speaks loudly and adores food. Was waiting for her to shout dattebayo bro.
That being said she's OK. I came across more unbearable characters (looking at you, Asahi).
I agree there are more characters that make my skin crawl than Wuk Lamat, the difference is.. I wasn't force to be stuck with them for hours on end (I think the most dialogue heavy character in all of XIV history) and possibly well into the next 2yrs of patches. She's OK to me, but she truly reminded me of OG Naruto and that felt weird. The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.
Both times I've been to the forums it's been a nonstop whine fest about pretty much anything and everything that someone could complain about. Not sure where you're seeing this overwhelming positivity cause it's not here, lol. 3 active threads complaining about Wuk Lamat and they're all full of mostly the same people just circle jerking each other.
Y'all need Jesus or Ra La or something.
And a disclaimer for anyone that hasn't looked into those other threads, but the OP is a known bigot that hates this story because he thinks it's pushing "wokeism" and seems to be just generally crazy and hateful.

Is the character building in the room with us now? I'm almost done with the story and I'm still waiting for this supposed Wuk Lamat character development to happen.
I'm trying really hard to like her, but it's like she's the same annoying character throughout the entire story who never fails at anything and everything always works out for her regardless. Genuinely just god awful Mary Sue style writing from low tier fan fiction honestly.

she's a new character. She is presented as young and naive. Over the course of the current MSQ, she is shown as growing into her own, especially the last few quests. She will supposedly be involved in this new arc and is expected to grow fully into a more fleshed out character over the course of the arc. Read a few good books, you'll see what I mean
Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing
I think of Wuk as how I felt about Zero. I disliked Zero when I first met her, thinking she was edgy and emo and bland. But once the story progressed and I played through it, I loved Zero and how her character developed.
It's amazing so many ppl saying a character SUCKS when she was just INTRODUCED. Talk about judging a book by its cover. Give me a break. Do you do that IRL too?
I'm a pretty avid reader, but it's kind of poor storytelling if I have to wait for a character to be redeemed and become likeable towards the very end, especially because she played such an enormous role in the MSQ. It's not surprising that people are having a hard time liking a story that revolves around a character that is supposed to be unlikeable until the very end. It would be like the entirety of a Star Wars movie revolving around Jar Jar Binks as the main character with 90% of the screen time, everyone would understandably hate it.she's a new character. I don't mind unlikeable characters that grow throughout the story and have character development, I understand that. But you also need to have another character that we the reader/viewer need to relate to and like along the way or you just end up being annoyed that the focus is always on this character you are not even *supposed* to like until the end.
