This story is really underwhelming - it's opened to mixed reviews.

Ehh.. thought DT was alright, nothing mind blowing but good enough that I was kept entertained. Personally felt Wuk Lamat was fine, there definitely should have been more involvement with us and the other scions. Story pacing for sure felt off about mid way and again right at the end, BUT all in all DT does what it's ment to, its "key" set up to go damn near anywhere now...

I just finished the story and I will say that there are a few plotholes, but they're not something that can be ignored. For instance, the WoL literally saved not only the entire star, but the entire universe. However, the NPCs in Tural are like "You saved the star?! When LOL!" Was tural just not affected by what happened in EW with everyone literally turning into monsters?

I wondered about this too. The lack of even recognition that the Final Days existed in Tural is a downright retcon of the EW that I cannot reconcile in my mind. It makes no sense, we literally see the whole world engulfed in Meteion's despair cloud from the moon... there isn't even a single line of dialogue about it. And the worst part, it would make perfect sense to justify many issues with the different tribes and the succession crisis itself with the final days. 90% of these problems? Yea, it was due to a surge of previously unseen abominations! No, instead this continent was somehow magically spared the plague that was eating the whole universe.
The more I think about the DT story, the more inconsistencies I see... why didn't you just take me with you Estinien, we could have fun messing around...

How could Zoraal Ja have a son? I haven't seen a single Mamool Ja in Alexandria. Did he clone himself? (Why tho, makes no sense.) Can Mamool Jas procreate with different species but the offspring takes on none of the genetic features of the non-lizard parent?
This random child took me out of the story so much because his entire existence made zero sense to me. It was evident that he was just thrown in for the sake of making you Feel Big Things, but executed in the worst conceivable way. (I can't even put into words what I felt during the scene after the Zoraal Ja trial. It weren't the feelings the writers had intended.)
But that they didn't even bother to give a thinly veiled explanation where he even came from.... or did I miss something?

I asked exactly this question! And if an explanation was given at any point, I missed it, and I have suffered through actually watching every cutscene and reading every box of text. Until level 97 I even read all the optional dialogues from any npcs standing around, but at some point I just couldn't inflict it on myself anymore to expose myself to more of the writing than I already had to just to get the msq over and done with. Nothing, it is just there out of the blue and everyone acts like this is normal.

I'ven't finished Dawntrail yet but it has been a disappointment so far, and it doesn't seems is going to change in the near future
Nothing interesting happens! I would have forgiven that but God, Wuk Lamat is terrible
I didn't like her in Sharlayan but I guessed she was just nervous, and she'll be different when we arrive at her city, even more considering the monumental task she impose on herself but no, she's still bland, boring, and not someone which I'd be confident in championing as leader of a country. She's spineless, and needs constant reassurance
Once again, I would have overlook that if the questing or the storyline was fun in someway but I reached the point where I'm skipping everything that can be skipped, that may ruin later content as I may not have idea what's happening but I won't subject myself to all that boredom
The places are beautiful, and makes me question, do they not suffer the Final Days? I know we're going in another way but it's quite weird that not even a single person in there was dispaired enough to become a monster, and there is not single place I've seen, where there are signs of destruction caused by it
But I disgres, the bottom line is I'm bored, completely, I hope there's some silver lining ahead, just like Othard was in Stormblood, which I thought it was bland, and Lyse not the most engaging character but not this level of boring
And I was worried that the changes to my favorite job were going to ruin the expansion for me, how naive I was

I am in a new zone and the entire quest ground to a halt so I can do nothing but filler for 4 quests. Im just beyond tired man. Im on like lvl 97 quests atm

Tural isnt much different compared to Radzathan and its surroundings. The story is probably the most boring out of all expansions so far, so many things are revolved around being a maid to the new protagonist.

And... does anyone remember The Zandalar from WoW? Tural is awfully similar to that in concept.... I hope the story writers didnt actually try and copy stories from other games.

I hate this expansion. The new jobs are fine but its the direction of the game and story which is horrible. The story was just a failure and I am still not done with it just yet... The increase in difficulty is ridiculous also. I am a casual player and trying to finish the 5th dungeon is a total nightmare for me on the first boss. I have health conditions and the difficulty curve is causing me physical pain in my hands. I will quit before I have to do these everyday for a daily reward.

To be fair gamers level up and start finding content too easy, SE has to up a knotch to keep players playing content, make things too easy you won't have players and it just be treated as an ERP centre. Surely you could find a solution for your health condition, customized controllers or devices, or controls to help ease it out. The game is very adjustable and we've advanced extremely quickly to help anyone willing to be a gamer, specially hardware side.
