This is usually how it goes, someone comes along who takes their criticism too far into off topic territory and then all the people who oppose those critcisms use that to invalidate everyone else who has found the Wuk Lamat adventures to be annoying and boring.

It is unfortunate, I agree. I have my own gripes with Dawntrail's MSQ, and I almost never get involved in the forum posts/discourse for my own sanity. But I have a hard time allowing hate to fester.

Kate has as much power over the story as Koji Fox did, dismissing her involvement in the writing is silly. She's responsible for making the faeries non-binary in the English script while they're all female in other languages.

Yeah Koji has had a lot of story input over the years and if it is true that Kate is now in that position and is behind some questionable stuff, then that is valid criticism, But the way i look at it is every dev team is going to have a few people who push bad elements or turn in shoddy work and its the responsibility of the team as a whole to call that stuff out, I'm surprised Yoshi P, Other Devs and QA all played through the Contest stuff and they all seemingly said "yes this Pacing is fine, this shoddy story work is fine and this unberable over hyping on this character is also fine."

He doesn't have any control of the direction/narrative/pacing of the story.

The only things he had control over that he could directly influence -- and Kate, by extension, I would assume -- was if something seemed questionable or insensitive to western audiences to the degree that they'd maybe change a line here or an interaction there.

Honestly I think it's just the generic anime genki girl trope doesn't work well in the west. Also they made a trope that is not that popular here a Poochie. No political agenda really. Why can't her planet suddenly need her...

I'm not going to lie, I think a lot of the complaining has to do with nostalgic based regency bias than anything. Wuk seems fine. I'm just now wrapping up the city introduction but She isn't as bad as the complaints on these forums make it sound. She is like lyse in the sense she is naïve, But unlike lyse where we don't have a full expansions with her and still didn't have a clue about how anything works. Unlike lyse She seems pretty insecure. Her bravado in 6.55 was clearly a show of false confidence and a desperate bid for help.
I kind of feel she is lyse done well. The set up so far is basic and have a lot of tropes, but they can also develop in interesting ways. I am at least interested to see where this goes.
in 6.55 I was pretty sure i wasn't going to like her, But I am pleasantly surprised, Wuk has hints of depth that were never present for lyse until the very end of 4.0.

I think a lot of the dislike for Wuk Lamat stems from her english voice acting performance.
I played Dawntrail MSQ with japanese voices and I mostly enjoyed myself a lot.
