I did it with a group, we paused DPS on him when he was at 35%, killed all the adds, and then just went ham on him. It was a photo finish, the animation went off but he died first.

It's not a bug, it's a way to filter out people who faceroll the CT raids. You wanted challenge, well here you go. Enjoy your DPS check :^)
I went to the Sycrus Tower twice today with my new Viper. The first group couldn't defeat the second to last boss. Instead of repeating the game, this group was disbanded. After a total of one hour, I waited another 30 minutes in the alliance raid. The second to last boss froze as expected, but without the necessary ice block that protects against his strongest attack. Another wipe and another hour wasted unnecessarily by disbanding the group.
Absolute botch by Square Enix: How can it be that old, absolutely safe content is suddenly buggy?
Square enix is a small indie company and they recently had massive layoffs. Someone must have accidentally taken the ice blocks with them when they left.
Ice spells missing sounds like the dying curse of every unhappy BLM main.
Also had Syrcus today. Feels bad waiting for an raid just to have everyone disband at the start.
Hmm, there must be something triggering it if they didn't actually change the Syrcus tower AI scripts. Maybe they changed the ID number of the ice attack in the casting list and thus the client isn't showing it at all, but the server is still "doing it", just nobody is seeing it happen.

You can kinda cheese past it if you have most of the healers die, get the raise buff roughly around when Amon casts curtain call, wait for it to just go off and then dead heals take the rez, and begin raising sacked healers plus tanks.
It took effort to do that though, and that doesn't include the juggling of constant frog debuff, adds, bombs, -aga spams, and Amon clearly on your healer butt in aggro if tanks die again. :')

The players aren't being frozen with the "ice chunk" with Blizzaga Forte
This doesn't feel like an intentional change, since the only way past requires a paladin to protect the healer, but then when you try to do anything as a healer you get turned into a frog before you get to cast. This group could only get at most two players back up after curtain call.

This is hilarious but yeah it is probably getting an error when it tries to reference the job id of vipers and pictomancers when it targets players for the ice blocks, making it not happen xD
Squex leaves its old content in the dust and forgets about it with disdain. This might not be fixed until 9.0.
I mean, Choco medica was from what, HW? And it never, ever worked until this last patch xD
