There really is no need to decouple SMN and SCH from ACN. SE needs to realize that the pets are necessary and that they should have worked on improving it, rather than ditching it. Haters be damned. The job started as such and should be retained.
All pet-related actions and abilities should be fleshed out as ACN and just let SMN and SCH expand to it as each role see fit.
I wish they would bring the pets back for SMN, but Creative Business Unit III has a very choppy vision that combines the one and done big flashy attack that some were clambering about mixed with a loose structure of FF16. I know I've said before, but we're likely going to see the return of pets in BST. And if they ever make an unlimited version, we'll probably see it in PPT where the weapon/secondary is the puppet that acts like a pet.
But even though the dev team seem committed to having SMN go down this road, it's a very mismanaged and poorly built road of cheap asphalt and loaded promises that 4-5 years to look forward to maybe something.
SMN starting dawntrail only has:
Carbuncle, Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, Phoenix, Bahamut, Sunny D Bahamut
Out of the following:
ARR: Shiva, Leviathan, Good King Moggle Mog XII, Ramuh, Odin

The eden versions could be glamour options or new summons altogether
