Maaaan, do I have mixed feelings.
One one hand, I understand exactly how you feel OP. But as a friend of mine taught me when I walked out of the proverbial closet, you eventually have to get used to the fact that bigots won't have their mind changed, even if the only thing you're requesting is to be allowed to live just the same way anyone else is. I have pretty thin skin, and I happen to be quite proud of that, but you need to learn to ignore these voices if they offer nothing of value to you (believe me, they're doing the same with our voices).
As for some wanting to blacklist words like LBGT or whatever, well... I happen to hold the opinion that whatever goes inside one's head should be sacred, even if I'd consider it a barbarity personally. If one wants to hold hatred in the heart and that's their way of life, who am I, who are you, to deny them that?
