Troll aside, I'm bi... And I'm thinking of blocking it too. It's part of the frequent spam, that's all.

So, let me ask. If someone filters out the word, how will you know? Are you going to go around asking every single person how they feel about members of the LGBT community and see who doesn't reply? What nefarious purpose will it be used for? Personally I don't get the logic here as anyone who blocks the term wouldn't be going around you to harass you and there are still plenty of people in this game who won't care. It's a system that's needed to protect people from stalkers and filter out spam, I am extremely glad it exists now.I'm alarmed by the number of people who are using the chat filter to censor out "LGBT". I don't see any good reason why anyone would want to censor that out.
I'm really afraid that the chat filter is going to be abused for homophobic purposes. We are already seeing a lot of people doing exactly that by censoring out "LGBT".
Please change this, please. Prevent people from being able to filter "LGBT". We should not give people the tool to censor out real individuals they don't want to see.
Honestly though, this forced inclusion thing has always put a sour taste in my mouth, especially lately with the direction media is going with absolutely butchering movies and video games for the sake of forced inclusion. This thread just adds to that.

How else would they bring attention to their bait than by guilt tripping.
But hey, I take it as something positive. I've been a little out of the loop with all the features that are coming, so now I have a good idea of what to add to the list.

Losado, with sincere respect, take a step back and process. People are NOT removing LGBT because they distain the groups in general. It’s simply that in THIS SPECIFIC CASE, the term is being used, NOT TO IDENTIFY SAID GROUPS, but to IDENTIFY VENUES. Advertisements are what people are tired of. Gamba. Dj. Courtesan. Gil. All these are terms used to draw attention to cafes and clubs, and unfortunately when you see the letters LGBT, it’s very commonly used in conjunction with this to attract. As an example, if LGBT was replaced by….SSHT (straight, sexy, horny, teachers), then currently, people would remove SSHT, because that was a term associated with venue advertising. It has NOTHING to do with how people feel about sexual preference groups. People are just tired of every other message in party finder being about a club.
Should people start to actually get creative again, LGBT MIGHT resurface, along with other terms, for more exciting, imaginative venues.
In short, ANY term COMMONLY used in connection with a club, regardless of WHAT it is is currently undesired.

Honestly, I think it will be a good thing it will allow people who I don't want to interact with filter themselves out, saves me the hassle personally as I don't really feel the need to filter anything myself.
I just don't see how this is a bad thing on either side... Just my personal feelings.
I do think it's "rather concerning" that some people are so quick to jump to filtering these sorts of things out (unless you just don't want to see club spam then i understand), but at the end of the day that makes it less likely we have to deal with discrimination to begin with.
People falling for bait, just another day in the FF14 forums.

I'm sorry but I chuckled because this thread is a fine example of why some people would want to filter "LGBT". Might be a good idea to add "phobi" on the list too.

Why? Cause it’s constantly in your face so time to block it. Also people asked for this filter so.. situation of you got what you asked for![]()
People like you are the ones making the annoying shout ads that we get forced to filter
