Something to keep in mind is this is the OFFICIAL PLACE FOR FEEDBACK yes the sample size is rather small in comparison with the overall playerbase.

Any survey done by polling firms poll a tiny, tiny, tiny slice of the population.

Pew's polls, which are the gold standard, poll thousands at a time. Out of hundreds of millions of Americans.

You need to demonstrate why the forums are peculiar in its composition. And you haven't.

Finally, the people complaining back in HW and SB never got the same number of likes as current threads. A lot of the replies also just told them to get good.

Also, as far as the number of likes argument goes, the message I quoted currently has a larger amount of likes then the replies. And the message is wrong, at least the pew center part. And easily proven so.
So no, number of likes does not mean anything to the validity of a claim.

Funny here in the casual scenes we hear that the Raiders want everything to be ultra simple so its easier for there hardcore content.

Worth noting as well it's primarily people in the "hardcore" crowd that "needs" all those combat-assistance addons on top of getting caught out right cheating, so one wonders if those particular set of "hardcore" players are worth listening to about content that they technically don't play either because a third-party program plays it for them, lol.

Great point; the amount of third party program these "we're actually playing the game" crowd use really says a lot about them.

Striker is 100% right here in that the healer strike thread constitutes a voluntary sample which is subject to an incredibly high chance of sampling bias whereas something like the pre research centre would aim for a randomised sample that has a much lower chance of sampling bias (it still has a lot of other bias potential but lower than a voluntary sample)

The point I disagree on is the fact that since square never actually does any samples or never tells us how they actually collect their feedback we really don’t have much else to go on so to speak. We are running with the best “data” we have even if it’s flawed so it’s kinda hard to definitively draw conclusions one way or another

Square desperately needs to make their feedback response more transparent because right now it’s a disaster

My favorite example of this is when Cider Spider, a Scholar main calls the healer strike stupid, and then immediately runs down agreeing with every one of our talking points.
All this in a series where he repeatedly talks about letting Selene do all the healing, and barely needing to do anything.

This seems to always be the case in these videos I see. They insult the strike, then backhandedly throw out that healer design sucks, and that tanks are way too powerful. Maybe they'll say that "we've always been able to no-healer dungeons" as if that makes it not an issue.

It seems our special "data analyst" guy has hidden the main spreadsheet that contains forum and character names, but the document is archived for those interested.



However, the "butthurt edition" still remains up (original and archived) and we also know who the person behind it is as they're more than willing showing off their prowess.



Even as much as admitting using 3rd party app/website to create the list.



You may say, "well, the butthurt version only contains initials, why care?", so let me demonstrate why it's still an issue.

First, if you go and look the very first person on the list, you will see the following:


You can figure out who this person is by doing the next step:
• Go to "General Discussion" and look for the "#HEALERSTRIKE" thread
• Click "Replies" and it will pop out a window with individual participants (their forum names) and amount of posts they've made.

• I can see the first poster on top is Supersnow845 and I click the name, opening their profile
• By going into the "Characters" tab, I can see a single character named "Andreas Cestelle" on Jenova server, coinciding with the "A.C." initials, therefore I'm allowed to link 1 and 1 together, telling me who is who. You can do this with every single person with initials on that list because the lists starts from person with most posts to the one with least.

For reference, I've used Supersnow845 as the character they use isn't their main, it's an alt character, therefore it's more or less "safe", but many people still use their main characters to post on forums. Correction: It's their main, but not the one they raid with (thank you for the correction)

Had our data analyst friend made a spreadsheet without ever using names in the first place, this wouldn't have been an issue whatsoever, even less if things would've been placed at random.

No reason to agree that people might have a point when you can dismiss it and make the same point yourself so people will think you're smarter or something.

I've also already seen multiple people making that mentioned argument, too. Normally, if something has always been poorly designed that should be regarded as a fault, not an excuse.
