Reading through this thread there's definitely one common complaint.

Doormats who can't say no to their static and it being on them to gear everyone else who are too lazy to either level up gatherers to at least help with the process, or not levelling their crafting to the point where they're able to contribute to their own crafts?

Sorry but why should one person be a door mat and have to get everything done for everyone else who are putting in next to no input? Why are you people not just saying flat out no? Or charging them an arm and a leg for services rendered like they would be if they were buying from the market board on release week?

Grow a spine and just say no, and find people to raid with who respect your time.

The one week delay introduced for Abyssos and Anabaseios was a godsend.

If you want to craft HQ gear you need the best current crafting gear and then overmeld it with proper materia. This can quickly escalate to like 10x the cost of one combat set, not to mention you have to gather crafting materials gated behind scrip and tomestones as well so you spend a week farming, dump a lot of gil into materia to then craft a combat set somewhat quicker. And if you go with cheaper crafting set then you may not get HQ all the time...

Just as combat is balanced around savage and ultimate the crafting is balanced around 24/7 crafters and is extremely boring and time inefficient for anyone else. The only thing non-crafter can do to help is to get tomestones mats. Some scrip mats if lucky and things like oceanic fishing are reliable for it. We have tribe quests at the bottom and HQ gear crafts at the top, nothing in between.

Respectfully, crafting has become so piss easy to level and execute since ShB - there's no excuse to not have it available for self sufficiency at some point.

If you can't be bothered doing the bare minimum which is leveling, gearing and melding then you have to deal with it and fork out some gil for day 1.

Heck, you don't even have to know what any of your abilities do to craft a set yourself. Just copy the latest meldset and macro off of the balance and you too can be a god crafter right away.

If that somehow is still too much hassle then maybe you don't need a set of crafted gear on day 1 after all.

Leave it to those who actually enjoy crafting. We get that opportunity maybe 3 times during an entire expansion. On day 2 it's basically almost free already.

Lmao. Brother, this isn't Heavenward. Are we even playing the same game? Crafting and gathering is balanced for the casuals since ShB and hasn't changed whatsoever.

I highly doubt the majority of players with crafting jobs overmelds and craft the sets on day one. But the crafting itself isn't a problem, but the content releasing all at once is.

I am no one's doormat and I do enjoy crafting for the record which is why I offered to make gearsets for my static. It's having it shoved in one day that makes it less enjoyable. Sounds to me like some people don't really enjoy "crafting" but making gil? Otherwise why would it matter if it was all released on the same day or slightly earlier? The matter of releasing crafting recipes or gathering nodes earlier doesn't affect those who truly enjoy crafting and gathering. It only creates a problem when people like crafting, gathering and day one raiding, hence this forum thread. It's the reason they adjusted the time release for normal and savage last expansion because people didn't want to skip the normal story who wanted to do savage raids day one.

Again, I'm not arguing that it shouldn't be changed back to the EW schedule. The scoping question is just interesting to me.
Yeah this is an issue for raiders who want to go hard in week 1.

At the same time there's also no point in releasing them together anyways.

Might not impact a lot of people but it's also an easy fix.

Beeeecaaaause I enjoy gathering and crafting? I enjoy helping people? It's not as if my statics go "hey dude you're making ALL of our gear or you can't raid with us", I offer to do so, sometimes even insist, and they take me up on it.

I'm disabled and am essentially part-time self-employed and WFH, I have a lot more time to spend on the game than the average person. A fair chunk of the people in my statics spend their time doing other things - working or playing other games. Some don't even level crafters, some don't play often enough to even have the gil to buy the gear. So I help them, because they're my friends, because I'm able to, and because I like to have something productive to do.

Just because it's not something you would enjoy and you'd see it as a chore, doesn't mean everyone else would. The game is full of so many different kinds of content for all kinds of different people to enjoy. I just happen to enjoy doing everything I can get my grubby mitts on.
