    Lets Talk Dark Knight

    Ok This is Kouji Geki im using my brother's profile cause it forces logout on mine. But to My point I wanna talk Dark Knight. How it will look, act, and feel. And if we could just get a little insight on what SE had in store for for Drk i could feel at ease. Because Drk is truly the job i am waiting for.

    What will Dark Knight be in this game?
    I find myself asking that cause it seems that most of the Abilities that Drk "should kinda" have are split for the most part 2-3 jobs, Mrd, Lnc, Thm. Bloodbath which is i knock off of the old Blood weapon (I know its really kinda not but Its an ability that fits under Drk.) Life Surge which in every game with Dark Knight or any variation of it has an ability to absorb damage done to a mob. Dread Spike, and Blood For Blood. The 3 job would have been Thm but they don't have the abilities anymore anyways. But if they give Drk elemental abilities and in this game then ill count Thm. And no i am not saying take the abilities away from those jobs so don't have heart attacks people.But what will Drk have that sets them apart from the Other DDs? Will it even be a DD or added to Tanks? What will they bring to the table?

    What weapons will they be able to use?
    I know this seems obvious but hear me out. Seeing that scythe falls under Botanist now i'm not sure we will be seeing that in our arsenal. I don't maybe SE will surprise us. I myself am a huge fan of Greatswords so i would like to see them use them. Though i have seen other weapons use by classic FF Drk. And wouldn't mind if Drk used sword and shield tbh.



    How will Dark Knight look?
    I am insanely jealous how Dragoon looks won't lie. So SE needs to put on their A game on Drk AF cause quite frankly, to not make Drk look like a sissy next to Drg. lets look at some other FF Drks. Cause Drk should look like the most intimidating Job out there.





    so i am noticing a pattern here....... you can't see their face! Drk Af i should not be seeing my character's pretty face! Only the slight glow of my eyes!

    What spells will they have?
    i mean besides the obvious drain and mp siphon and absorb attributes. Maybe like 11 and get Endark. Will they get Elemental Magic and will it actually be useful unlike it was in 11.

    Again with the way things are in this game i am afraid for Drk and don't want to relive the old 11 days where i'm sitting ther for 6-7 hours waiting for a pt that will never come because Loldrkislol. I'm not asking to be godly but it will need something to compete with Wars and Drgs dmg. Now i pick them cause they are the other 2 hander jobs. And SE really dropped the ball with paladin. So i am expecting the worst. All i want is Drk to be able to walk into a room and be like..........

    As long as I'm not locked out of Paladin because I'm a completionist and want Dark Knight as well, I don't mind. I'm sure they'll do fine with Dark Knight, just as I'm sure they'll eventually fix Paladin.

    I have been waiting for greatswords in XIV since the trailer was released. ;_; That greatsword looked so very nice and shiny. I was thinking only of greatswords and hack 'n slash action as I made my character.

    Greatswords! Also, I'm cool with swords and shields too. :x And yes, please make it look like Cecil. Please. I'll even pay for a third account if Dev Team lets me look like Cecil. '~' Or a fourth. I don't care if it sounds like bribery, I'm a hopeless DRK/PLD fanboy.

    Harvesting scythes are used by Botanists. They're different from weapon Scythes, as such we could still see a scythe-wielding class/job.

    It won't be sword and shield unless they completely change their current class dynamic. Currently, classes don't branch into jobs, and even if they did, it would be almost pointless, because jobs only offer 5 additional abilities. Most of a job is based around the root class commands, the job abilities are just bonuses that make it stronger. The thing that most defines a job is actually just the stat differences and what classes they're locked into for sub abilities.

    I.E. If they tried to make Dark Knight another job for Gladiator, they'd run into the fact that Gladiator is inherently a tank, and all of its abilities are balanced for that purpose. It has no inherently "Dark Knight"-esque abilities.

    On that note, I would not go so far as to say that Scythe is "locked" out of use because it exists as an off-hand tool for botanists. (Notice that knives appear in 3 variations, cooking, leatherworking and gladiator's arms.) However, I for one never really cared for scythes as a weapon, and there's not much precedent for them in the series. I wouldn't mind great sword, but I would literally drop everything if we got a sword-staff a la Gabranth/Zidane.




    But there's no precedent for that either, so it's extremely wishful thinking.

    The real curiosity is what base class would be introduced for Dark Knight. Of course, the base class design seems to have been "let's make this up as we go along" up until now, I'm looking forward to seeing what the team does for the first base class to be produced post 2.0. Don't think we'll be seeing Dark Knight for a bit though, as they wanted to focus on mages for now, since we have a shortage?


    Edit: Derp, forgot to comment on role. Dark Knight is a self-damaging DPS, anything else and well... you're doing it wrong. Relating to the current classes, I would say slightly more burst-y than Dragoon, with the ability to deal direct damage or darkness damage via abilities like Souleater, and what-have you. I would actually prefer Dark Knight have slightly more survivability than it did in FFXI, in the sense that if one forgoes self-damaging abilities and only uses health-draining skills when one is in harm's way, a hit to DPS can result in more durability.

    well if thats the case then sure scythe could be added. and lol to batman i thought about putting that but though ppl get mad. But he proves a Point in a way . YOU CANT SEE HIS FACE EITHER! though i hope you cant see our mouth on our af that would look dumb and only Drg can pull that off. And i pray to Yoshi-P himself. PLEASE for the love of god (you) dont make it that you'd have to pick between Pld or Drk.

    Only FF11 has Dark Knights using scythes and you know how that can go on these forums. I'm against scythes because they are not a weapons. Only due to the renderings of Death, Grim Reaper, using a scythe to harvest souls is the only really anyone thought on it as a 'dark' weapon. Granted this is a fantasy, a scythe designed harvesting gain and a very clumsy hard to use 'weapon'. I would prefer Dark Knights to have swords if anything or, maybe, a flail. Flail or morning star could be really awesome for dark knights...

    DARK KNIGHT YES PLEASE... but think then the 2.0 they could over-haul the whole thing.. makinging DRK look as bad ass as ever... and bring DRG back down a peg or too... Drk. is my job of Choice... mmmm Love me some Damage.

    Well I imagine they'll probably use Scythes like their predecessor in FFXI so an entirely new class will likely be developed.

    As far as abilities go, in the players poll they described DRK's focus would be causing enfeebling effects through weaponskills and special damage which might be dark based en-spells or neutral damage to bypass enemies with special defenses. I'm interested in what aspect they have in mind for DRK much like RDM though.
