It would depend a lot on who the mother is. For example, hinnies (stallion x jenny) are substantially different from mules (mare x jack), even when the crossed breeds (e.,g., shire x mammoth) are the same.

While I'd actually love an option like this in the game, I totally get the reasons why SE would not want to do it (which Yoshi-P has gone over). That said, your choices are... interesting. XD

In all seriousness, I wish there was a way we could become closer friends with the NPCs and get to know them better within the game.

There's certainly more than a few NPCs I wish I could hang out with again, mostly old class/job quest givers that cease to be relevant after a while (or worse, they disappear completely).
