This is exactly how I feel about this, you can easily be punished for trying to interact with other players even if it’s being respectfulI have noticed that this game feels infinitely more antisocial than any other MMO I've played, if not because of the sheer lack of a need to speak to any player at any point in gameplay other than high-end, then because nobody ever talks to each other outside of cliques. The height of social interaction I've experienced during my time playing this game are Manderville flash mobs and the occasional 4 sentence conversation with someone in a duty. This includes my time in premades and FCs. In every other situation, I might as well be the only human player.
It's the complete opposite in WoW, probably due to the mentioned comparatively-lax restrictions on chat.
You were not punished for being respectful. The tos clearly outlines the acceptable boundaries of advise (which I'll link on a few minutes) and you went over them. Also your getting mass reported from nn on a daily basis. You are clearly doing and saying something to upset people and the gms. Also the ban was TWENTY DAYS. You've received at least 2 other bans.
As someone who played WOW and hopped to FFXIV - many of the things that are acceptable and even commonplace in WOW are straight-up against the TOS. For example in WOW it's very common to call out or even just straight-up vote kick a player for messing up one single mechanic in a fight. That doesn't fly in FFXIV. You can't call someone out or blame someone for a botched mechanic or even a wipe. You can ask them if they'd like some advice, but if they say "no" you have to consent to that. You also can't comment on their DPS or rotations, you can't refuse to do your job to spite them either. (So for example you can't refuse to heal a DPS if you think their rotation is bad) Again, you can ask if you can offer advice, but they are free to decline.
WOW shout chats also tend to be very "political" and discuss many "social issues" (at least when I was still playing), that doesn't fly in FFXIV. Things like politics, social issues, and religion are not okay to discuss, even if you are in a private or semi-private chat (like an FC chat) if you make a comment that makes at least one person uncomfortable, they are within their right to report you and a GM may take action against you.
Now, I'm not saying you did any of these things specifically, but I'm trying to give you some examples of how the two games differ to help you understand what might of actually happened. Because, you're right, you probably didn't say anything OVERTLY offensive, but to catch a 20 day ban, which is quite severe, something you said violated the TOS.
I don't think transferring servers is a terrible idea, you're on a very populated one, it would even be beneficial for you to duck out of there before Dawntrail and guarantee yourself a lower queue time elsewhere. However, you may need to examine your behavior and how you are speaking to other people and the topics you are bringing up. Because if you are violating the TOS, even if you didn't intend to, the same problems (except the stalking obviously!) are gonna follow you. Here's a link to the prohibited behaviors in FFXIV.
Even in WoW abusing the kick system is a violation of the TOS and that same behavior does often have in FFXIV, One only need to watch talesofDF on Reddit to see that it does occur.
WoW chats are rarely ever on politics, even WoW players don’t wanna see that stuff,
the whole chat thing if even one person is offended to me just makes the game anti social which for a MMO ain’t a very good thing since it discourages communication between players which to me is a bad thing since it can drastically impact human interaction and even discourage the possibility of making friends along the way.
None of them ever wanna provide the name and that is what bugs me the most knowing there is someone out there that wants to make my life hell and there nothing I can do about it.How bizarre, my experience in the game has been completely the opposite - I usually run into nothing but polite, respect and social people, even in random groups. And yes, the occasional weirdo. The worst I've ran into was an FC leader trying to convince people to make FF14 character Only Fans...
That is to say, our experiences aren't indicative of the game as a whole. Maybe there's something profoundly wrong with the server you're on or even the whole data center? I'm on an European DC, for the record. That, or you have a horribly bad luck, or maybe your behaviour is to blame, even if you mean well.
The stalker thing, if true, sounds awful and I'm sorry. The only thing I can suggest is asking your former FC leaders for a name - who knows, maybe they've kept a SS of the chat? If not, ask if it happens again in the future. I guess you could change your character's name if/when you transfer as well.. good luck in any case!
I am quite serious about that.
If enough people report even something that isn’t offensive SE doesn’t care about the context or what is said or isn’t said![]()
And what proof do you have that you can get mass report - insta banned. When you were taken to gm jail they would have told you what tos you violated. They dont just make stuff up from thin air. And again. You've been banned THRICE now.
You will not get a 20 days ban for nothing or because someone reports you, sorry. And you can not know whether you get 20 reports per day or not. Those informations are not public.
Seriously, everything you wrote in this posting seems to be not right.
Cheers
I'm really sorry about the stalking - even assuming you didn't behave properly in the first place, it's still shabby.
... But I second the posts above: I've been on the game for a few years. Not very long compared to some, but enough to give me a fairly representative idea of the community. During that time, I've made comments; given advice; pointed out that if the person didn't make certain efforts in certain savage, then it wasn't possible to continue with them.
I literally never had any problems. And... I'm sorry, but the only players I've seen complain about this were usually also the ones who phrased things in a very, very aggressive way. Just like on WOW, in fact, where the ‘clash culture’ is accepted and trivialized as if it were okay to vote kick for a simple mistake, or to preface every piece of advice with kindly names of birds before replying to anyone who dares to take offence that ‘fragility is on reddit’.
So, as with every post about this kind of problem: can we have some details? Because either you're out of luck, the server is problematic, or you've run into some madmen (which can happen on ffxiv, of course); or you're not as innocent as you seem, because getting banned for such a long time isn't trivial.

all reports go threw a GM, if you got a suspension or ban then you deserved it.
"I haven't said one raciest or disrespectful thing in-game"
"in-game" that comment makes me think you know what you did or said..
How to not get reported and/or harassed:
1. Only talk about in-game topics, nothing irl.
2. Do not criticize anyone.
3. If someone is playing poorly, silently leave. Do not announce the reason.
4. Don't lose your temper. Immediately blacklist any player who makes you angry.
5. This one may be controversial but I'll say it anyway because it's true. You can't make enemies if you don't make friends. Most drama comes from players who already know you so staying anonymous has its perks.
6. Stay out of Novice Network. It will help you with points 2, 4 and 5.
7. Make your own fc and only play with like-minded people. People cannot control your access to fc features by spreading rumors about you if you are the leader.
After a 20 day ban the next one may be permanent so you might want to be careful.
