Also please no half measures. Unlock it all with no caveats with the exceptions of weapons, and I guess artifact gear.

I like your mention of it, because I was also thinking of some Gatherer gear that would make great combos with NIN
At some point Yoshi-P is going to have to admit that the cash shop/events/pvp/universal gear exists, and that the 'We don't want black mages wearing plate armor' excuse is long past being applicable, and at this point it looks stubborn and petty. We get it, you have a specific idea about what look jobs should have, but when you're spending time creating outfits for jobs that no one will wear, you need to step back and really think if your original idea was right or not.
Come on Yoshi-P, it's time.

Most people aren't asking for 'black mages wearing plate armor,' it's the mundane thigs like being able to use the looks of specific gloves, boots, pants, skirts, dresses, etc on any job.

I'm still generally against this.
If FFXIV's job design weren't hanging on by a thread, barely differentiated by five role categories that even still cannot seem to stay in their own lanes (looking at you, Warrior), then I would probably be for more the blurring of aesthetic lines.
But because aesthetics is pretty much all we have anymore to feel any degree of specificity or choice, I think this would trivialize the job system even more.
Put another way, I think, but for the gear limitations, a lot of players wouldn't even be bothering to play most of these other classes because combat is so boring and plays out so similarly. The restrictions incentivize players to pick up and grind other jobs in a system that otherwise does a very poor job of motivating them to do so.
I mean, if 8.0 somehow magically turned things around and restored a lot of lost job fantasy/identity (lol, fat chance), then sure my concerns would be alleviated. But I am solidly tossing this proposal, for now, into the "players don't realize what they are asking for will dilute interesting game experiences" pile along with "balance" and "accessibility."

I feel like "certain jobs are so boring that enticing people with restricted gear is one of the only ways we can get them to play them" isn't a great selling point here. :X People should be able to play the jobs they actually enjoy.I'm still generally against this.

But even still, if glamours were to be unlocked, you'd still have people out there playing every single role. It's not like all...MCH (or any other job) would disappear simply because people could now sport their glams while playing something else.

The restrictions don't incentivize me to grind precisely because I cannot mix and match I've been playing the game for 9 years mang, I'm outta options! I'm dry! I've gone thru every permutation of gear available in the game that is to my taste several times over already. I'm bumping up against the ceiling like a trapped bee! I need a teaspoon of sugarwater [all little grains of glams all dissolved up together and sippable] my metaphor is falling apart at the seams just like the 1 pair of trousers I keep glamming over and over and over.
The excuse given in the media tour is dumb. SE breaks these rules all the time with NPCs and we have gear in the game already that explicitly allows what they said they'd have a problem with.
Stop being stubborn and let people glamour what they want. At this point, it's just kinda sad.

I am! I'm asking to be able to! I know a bunch of Tank Gear that would be absolutely amazing for a "Battlemage" style character that wields magic and wears heavy armour. Why should my fantasy be given less thought than furries and, lets face it, perverts?
