Since 6.5 started nearly 9 months exactly before Dawntrail's launch date. 7.5 will presumably launch in February 2026, with 8.0 coming out in late November/early December of that year.

Which, let me also say... I can't claim to know how accurate or not the translation for this article is, but if we assume it's true, and this encounter redesign isn't actually present until 7.2 then I can speculate as to why. My guess would be that either the decision of or the approval of this encounter redesign may not have occurred until after the content for 7.0 and 7.1 were already planned. SE seems to have a "no turning back" rule where once something is planned, it's locked in. And you know what, depending on what exactly that entails, I can sympathize, because game design is hard, especially when working on a live service game. But what gets me is actually just the lack of transparency.

If new encounter design isn't going to be present until 7.2, why wouldn't you say that? Why wouldn't you, when revealing that information to your audience for the first time, clarify when and how this change is taking place. Or why was this news about 8.0 being the "job identity expansion" casually mentioned off-script while talking about Dark Knight? Why wasn't there a slide talking about that since you know how hot of a topic it has been.

You guys honestly believe that 7.2 nonsense? Because I don't. Time and time again has SE shown their promises mean nothing.

ooo did someone say healer strike? I'd be up for that. I was there for the GW1 healer strike, I'll happily do it here, too!

Part of the reason why people wouldn't explore outside of the need to go fast is due to most of the items you could find inside the chests in those side areas had items many deemed as worthless. Things such as the ripped chef's hat that used to drop from a side room chest in the Stone Vigil. Back when trash packs gave xp you would have a lot of people dip out of a dungeon when they leveled up. Which would be fine if it was a DPS most of the time. Unless it happened in a dungeon people hated to get. As they would dip out so they could continue with the MSQ or do a job quest. You would also run into a lot of botter groups doing 1st boss clear runs. Or getting grouped up with actual people only for them to again dip out. Heck you'd also see people in the PF look for 1st room clears for some dungeons cause it was seen as a faster way to gain xp.

Another reason why people didn't explore is the rare occasion a part of a side room or area wasn't deemed worth the time and effort to do so. The last side room of Stone Vigil was dubbed the death room due to the fact if you pulled it most of the time you'd wind up with at least four avises, three ice elementals and two zizes. Or the area to the left of the 1st boss room of again Amdapor Keep wasn't explored due to how close the separate groups of trash were to each other. Each one able to summon a voidsent. The roaming mobs also being dangerous. All for what a minion? Or you could end up with a Brayflox Longstop problem where one of the best rings for your class for that level range might not even drop from a chest that people theorized on it having a higher drop rate if you saved all of the goblins.

And sure there are plenty of times the devs don't listen or seem to understand what the problem is. Or think they know what the problem is. Yet when as I've said they get shown time after time the same things by the player base that they don't have time to slow down and smell the roses or want challenging encounters for years you're probably not going to want to make things that have side areas or too challenging.

Have they gone too far in the opposite direction? Probably and they have addressed this in a few interviews. That they feel they probably went too far with their changes. The devs unfortunately don't work as fast as many would like them to. Yet this player base is wide and varied with a lot of differing opinions on how this or that aspect of the game should be.

    I believe it is plausible.

Assuming it is true that they plan a reset of jobs and reassessing identities, it does make sense considering 7.0 is done, 7.1 if it isn't almost done is half way done and 7.2 is potentially in the works already, that such an overhaul would be set for 8.0 and 7.2 would be where they would be able to address concerns outside of a hotfix.

The jaded pessimist in me says all of this is a lie.
The realist says that given how game development (and SE's specifically works) it would in theory be in line with what they're saying.

I'm tired of being told to wait for post-patches and expansions for fixes and increased healing requirements that are never coming. Healers are not fun in all forms of content like all jobs should be, they're replaced by tanks and dps due to low healing requirements and their dps kit is small for 0 reason, when in the past we had more options and handled things just fine. I refuse to play healer in roulette come DT. I refuse to heal EXs, I refuse to go into Savage, and I am boycotting Ultimate.

First time I hear about that one and now I'm curious. What happened in GW1 that warranted a healer strike?

If you have a party of 4, can you do roulettes on any job choice?

Same. It's also important to note that 7.1 may have content that has already been in development for longer than usual since it has the first ultimate of the expansion.

I'm dissapointed with 7.0, but I don't think they'll lie about 7.2 or it would be a significant PR hit. I want to believe that 8.0 will bring changes since its been talked about several times already in different interviews

I think even with pre-mades to qualify for roulette/bonus you need the standard composition.

    --------
That said if Healers want to go on a massive strike they will need to:

    Make a Global Online Petition

Communicate with Linkshells, Servers and Data Centers to coordinate a strike

Refuse to play the Healer Role

Unless a good percentage(millions) stops playing Healers I don't expect much to happen
