It's unfortunate that the second dye channel is for the collar and not the inside of the coat, but what can you do
If you can't adapt to the limitations, then it sounds like a skill issue tbh
It's not about adapating to the limitations, but the fact that the "limitations" are questionable in the first place. It's not a "skill issue" if I want my character to wear gear in a color I like. The primary accent is all of the red elements. Majority of the other artifact gear dyes these elements while leaving accent colors alone, which are nowhere near as egregious or limiting as being forced to use the red. Warrior and Bard's smaller undyable details are comparatively fine, as they aren't a notable chunk of the overal gear's color.

Also, "there are a lot of red accents, that's why they left the gradient" is my point as to why it feels lazy -- in fact, if there are a lot of red accents, isn't that more justification for why all of the red elements should be dyable instead of just the collar?

This would just create a different issue, now you would be stuck with a white collar
There are 3 main colors in the set: black, red and white. Black and white cover the most/least of the set - this is why they chose those 2 colors
This is just a limitation of the two dye system and the design choices
I do understand the issue and I agree that they could have designed the gear to better fit the 2 dye channel system, but I feel like this is something that can be worked around

I agree that being left with a white collar could be seen as an issue, but it's far easier to work with the collar being undyable. I agree that having a third dye channel would be ideal, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards right now. I just think that ultimately it is an objective fact that being able to dye all of the red accents provides a lot more customization options for the overall piece. Even having a retextured version with different dyemaps available in game (perhaps with the tatters back?) would be more than fine, similar to the Bodyguard set from PVP, (and would be an inverse of the dyemap there, as that piece dyes both the armor and the coat while the Idealized version from Memoria simply dyes the coat and not the armor, while the new AF dyes both the coat and the body armor by default) but waiting what would potentially come down to years later, let alone no confirmation it would even happen in the first place isn't great, obviously.

Ultimately I feel it's worth bringing up as a complaint because I feel the choice does come off as cutting corners, is an unfortunate choice in general, and I would like to see a version of the gear with alternate dyemaps even if the original dyemaps remain on a piece.

Yeah, it is worth bringing up, however, I feel like changes like this won't be a priority for them as they have their hands full with the CC feedback
Maybe it will be addressed down the line or when the second graphics update is upon us, whenever that would be
My expectations are very low, so I feel like we are eating good already from the stuff I've seen from the media tour, other people are welcome to disagree

You are talking about "skill issue" but then complaining about being stuck with a white color.
Everyone who knows color theory knows that it is harder to combine a color like "red" with other colors, rather than more neutral colors like white, black and gray.

I'm not complaining about being stuck with any color, I can make stuff work

Yeah true. Sorry. Didn't want to be harsh.

I also already have a color palette of dark brown, red and gold in mind. I just think there could've been a lot better areas to dye instead of the collar.

For me personally I would've liked the metal to be dyeable instead, but I still agree that the obvious choice would be the red areas.

Personally I just want to be able to dye it blue and not have it look objectively terrible. My WoL's main color is blue, my favourite color is blue, etcetera, etcetera. Being able to dye the red accents and particularly the gradient blue while leaving the main coat black would not only have been perfect, but virtually every available dye would have looked good like this, so it's just a shame -- I don't particularly want to spend the next few years wearing the same Idealized Bodyguard's Coat I have since 2020, but I have yet to find something I liked more until this coat -- I really just do find it a strange decision, particularly combined with the lack of tatters and the fact that the belts framing the groin don't dye along with the others for some reason. It really just feels unfinished and like a rush job compared to the render.
