Positionals add way more than they detract. I would like to see them return to Monk.
Just because there is a new thing doesn't mean the other things can't coexist with the new thing.
Man I remember when a bunch of people praised the decision to remove most of MNK's positionals due to modern bosses moving around too much/facing different directions too often, and that current fight design was being limited to accomodate to them.
Fast-forward to now, and despite the bosses in DT's first dungeon still repositioning all over the place (sometimes even having their backs literally inside the wall), the new melee has positionals out the wazoo. What was even the point of removing them from MNK back then?
Positionals are garbage when it's on an old job that had 6 of them until current expansion. Positionals are GREAT when it's on the flashy new class that the developers and influencers are currently hyping up. I will COMPLETELY buy it if someone tells me that they intentionally deleted 2/3 of MNK positionals ahead of time to make the hot new melee look good when the time came.Man I remember when a bunch of people praised the decision to remove most of MNK's positionals due to modern bosses moving around too much/facing different directions too often, and that current fight design was being limited to accomodate to them.

But it's okay because MNK is playable now, right? It's accessible and easy to deal with and has big follow-up nuke attacks like everyone else, so it's better now, right? Now that they deleted everything some of us liked about the job save for the job itself. Just enjoy the new class with all these positionals, guys!
i think there was like one savage fight in ew that got pretty annoying with jumping around. thats nothing, no reason against positionals
i remember people taking the barbarizia fight as an argument against positionals, what was the problem there? like one or two positionals every thing else was doable with true north... only talking from a dragoon point of view.
are positionals only alright if the boss stands still?
and wall bosses? yeah there are a few, but so what? why is that even an argument against positionals? that means there are fights where it matters and where it doesnt.
no, ew fight design is no argument against positionals.
even though its weird after all this nerfing and removing to have six positionals on a new job, i'm really, really glad to have them still in the game.
edit: sry, dont want to turn that into another endless positionals discussion, but it just kinda flew out of me xD

I agree with you! Fight design is absolutely not an argument against positionals! Even if you can't hit positionals all the time, as long as the DPS check is designed around that and we have access to sufficient tools to handle those situations, it's completely fine!i think there was like one savage fight in ew that got pretty annoying with jumping around. thats nothing, no reason against positionals

What's more, Monk even HAD a tool to alleviate long stretches of being unable to hit positionals in Shadowbringers, and they removed it!
I think just adding 2 positionals back would be OUTSTANDING for Monk this expansion.
hope the devs do change their minds and do bring back positionals to monk, like seriusly, if they do give viper 6 positionals, they should return them to monk too!, whats their excuse now for not returning them?!?!?!

I know I feel fairly meh about positionals tbh but stripping both buff/debuff management and positionals only to give it to the new toy Viper is just classic SE at this point it's almost insulting...
Raptor form could have easily given some secondary effect to strengthen the next positional bonus you hit on coeurl stance now that it's basically a blank stance or similar - that way you can emphasize combos while still having the bonus of hitting positionals - or give one charge to a ranged attack you can bank if you ever need to disengage - idk something more interesting... more like the opo stance
(I don't "main" monk but it's my go-to melee since ARR)
