A similar character job with a paintbrush+easel isn't going to instigate any lawsuits unless it's literally a copy of the material which Picto isn't. I seriously to the nth degree doubt this is gonna make them sue Square because Pictomancer is an iteration from an old Final Fantasy title. It's purely from that.
This world would have been long gone to litigation hell because so many things are similar to each other, dude. Think about it.

Come on SE, more dyeable mogstore npc outfits and 60/70 alliance raid gear. Do them all.
Call of Duty is risking a BIG lawsuit with guns...
I don't know if they took inspiration from Guns from Battlefield, but I'm worried about BIG lawsuit coming from EA. Since EA owns Battlefield and has been very aggressive about lawsuit before. The only saving grace is that they are useless and Activision has that Microsoft money so it will be harder for them to sue. I think Activisio made a huge mistake because gun is too like another gun... If EA sues successfully they may need to delete guns from the game as a settlement, so hold off on playing it for now... Wait and see.
SE has attorneys on retainer.
They do not need your legal advice.
This topic has got to be a troll. Right?
I'm going to assume this is a troll but if not, let me explain:
Copyright is there to protect against people taking EXACT DESIGNS from one game and putting them into another. For example, you can't rip out Krile's exact model and outfit, put it into a new FPS game called WoL of Duty and call Krile your own original creation. However, you can use the name Krile, you can use the same weapon type, you can take some inspiration from her model/outfit, etc. You just can't have whatever you create be so obviously a copy (i.e. that one scene from Better Call Saul when Saul copies the logo font and color of his rival for his own business), then it would be grounds for suing.
Also, never heard of LoA but my first thought to paintbrush characters was Liu Huo from Tower of Fantasy. There's also Zhong Kui from Smite. Paintbrush characters are nothing new and clearly are not a copyright violation.

It's based of old Japanese folklore.
It'd be like saying Game of Throne risk big law suit for stealing the idea of "Dragons" from Lord of the Ring.
