With respect to Square Enix, ask them to stop working with sponsors that are excluding all NA residents except US residents when what they wanted was a NA promotion.

They say they haven't forgotten about Europe but it comes off like someone who gifted others but forgot your present on your birthday, anniversary and Christmas saying they'll find you a gift at some point (which of course will be something they got someone else 3 years ago instead of a unique item). On a different note, even if this were offered in Europe, i know at least some EU countries you can't actually get Mtn dew. (Or at least I have not seen even a single bottle or can in Germany for years.)

It's basically Canada's anti-gambling laws. They're supposed to regulate 'competitions' by mandating a test of skill, but have the unfortunate side-effect of stopping promotions like these.

As for the EU, my guess is the complicated gambling laws differing between countries.

Believe it or not, the rest of the world has promotions too. It's not a thing that's specific to the USA.
