Petition for Spanish Translation of Final Fantasy XIV

Freedom of expression also includes people being able to call someone out if they think that their "opinion" adds nothing of value to a discussion, and saying the reasons as of why it's inherently toxic and ignorant, as was the case (someone telling people to "just play in English", willingly ignoring the point of there being people that can't actually understand said language, and why, as was pointed out by the people that you quoted). And yeah, they would need to invest money, but they would do it for a return. Re-read what you're quoting, since that's not an opinion. That's a description of how a business works. In the end this is a decision that SE has to make, and they'll make it by taking into account their potential profit margins. Just like they did when they decided to provide Spanish support for their other games for almost 3 decades. Moreover, many other MMOs can do it without it affecting the amount of content that they release, at all, including all the most successful ones (WoW, ESO, GW2, Warframe, BDO, EVE, Lost Ark, Albion...). Or have EVE and ESO changed for the worse due to the addition of Spanish support two years ago, for example? Do you think that they did it out of the kindness of their hearts, or maybe they saw the possibility that by increasing the reach of their games their profits would also increase?

In other words, an investment in localization doesn't mean that the game will suffer due to it, but quite the opposite. At least if the people making the call do their homework. But for that to happen, the community has to remind them that the demand is there. And, considering that we're talking about the Spanish language (which is spoken in Spain, Central and Southern America, as well as several other places, including parts of the US), it is.

You're in your right to not wanting something. But that doesn't mean that you're right in regards to the reasons for not wanting it.

One recommendation is that you stop arguing with Malanior. He is a professional troll and only seeks to argue, and is known on many forums and social networks for his need to get everyone riled up. It will change his argument if he manages to upset people, and you will spend too much time and effort when the best thing is to ignore or block him.

And obviously arguing with this person distances the forum from the initiative and becomes a bad image of the community.

You're in your right to not wanting something. But that doesn't mean that you're right in regards to the reasons for not wanting it.

I think you misunderstood I say that anyone can talk in a forum, there are people who find it wrong or right, for example in the previous post you see a reason why it is a closed group

It does not represent Spain or anything else, it is a closed group speaking on behalf of all Spaniards, persecutory attitudes are characteristic of closed groups

I kindly appreciate the recommendation, and I agree. You just confirmed what I was thinking about his behavior. But I also wanted to make it really clear how this person has no idea about what he's talking about, and prevent any other people from getting misinformed and thinking that localizing the game in another language would hinder content quality or quantity per se.

To be clear for anyone that could missunderstand it, we NEVER said we represent Spain nor anything like that. OP clearly said that we, the FFXIVESP community, are asking for a spanish translation and anyone is welcomed to support the cause.

Please, please, PLEASE consider just translating the dialogue and UX/UI of the game. We're not even asking for voiced cutscenes or Latam servers, we just want the game to be accessible to our friends and families. The fact that there's a lot of Spanish speakers who can play in English doesn't change the fact that thousands of potential players just bounce off FFXIV's trial because going through thousands of hours of gameplay in a language that is not easy for them to learn or communicate in makes playing a chore rather than something fun; it just means we're the lucky (or stubborn) few for whom language isn't a barrier.

Sadly, not gonna happen. I would take too many resources, work and money. It cannot be done. What's that? Every other mmo has done it and it worked for them? Nonsense. There are clearly not enough spanish players. And surely no more new players would come if they could actually understand a word in the game.
Spain should just ban non translated media. Works wonders for germany and france so...
