Most likely the first step of their planned DC expansion but only 3 servers to be ready for 7.0 I guess although I really hope they won't pick servers of existing DCs to Shadow to distribute the load evenly...

As for my take on the whole thing, eh.

Seems like with how small it is, and how cramped EU looks at from a distance across the pond. It will probably fill nicely enough to have some Community, and likely in a healthier state than us here in NA. [Or the OCE who we pray for their relief]

I am not sure about that. We're already seeing a serious dwindling in PF on the Chaos DC. The regional travel is doing work as well, it doesn't just happen on Dynamis. I could be wrong, but I can also totally see Shadow seeing the same issue, especially with only 3 servers.

They really have no choice but to add region-wide duty queues, as even without Shadow, the launch of Dawntrail will clog up the world hopping so going from Dynamis to Aether will go from 15-30 seconds currently to 1/2 hour or broken and to OCE almost as bad and you get a couple hundred extra milliseconds lag added there for new fights.
I can't imagine them adding a 3-world DC without that functionality ready to go at Dawntrail launch.

Glad they are doing this, will make login queues on expansion release much better! I don't mind living on the new DC for expansion launch. And I will be sure to make alts on the new DC.

Duty Support exists. The only content in question would be the trials (we don't know if they've designed any of them for Duty Support this time) and PF is useful for those so you can join a group that needs the role you're using for MSQ.

What will be the big problem for launch content duty queues? Lack of healers (and possibly tanks).

Dynamis has plenty of people to do content without issue as confirmed by the player census. It's only a problem now because everyone thinks "Dynamis is dead" and spends all their time on other DCs, further fueling the self fulfilling prophecy. If DC travel ceases to function the problem will immediately resolve itself since it's entirely player created.

DC travel is not going anywhere, and it's baffling people think it will. All they have to do is enable cross-DC PF/DF and problem will also solve itself.
