Major adjustment to housing

So we all know people constantly yell for more housing. This is nothing new and the devs keep dropping the ball. Started back in stormblood with the new rules but they allowed ppl to keep extra housing. Then as of late the alt loophole that they never closed. Just a bandaid put over.

I also know they want the community feel but I got a few suggestions.

1) actually move to instanced housing. Charge a few dollars more on ppls subs and people will gladly pay it for a guaranteed house. Now this would make those mad who won multiples and the buyers/sellers but who cares. You make so much more money off this and make thousands happy.

Now, if you did this, would need a cap of 200-250 visitors for venues.

Then I would suggest modifying the fc workshop so that you can build up your private and fc plots and house sizes utilizing builds to add to said plots but don't have the items insta finish the build. Give a timer so it looks like real building is going on.

I also realize this could result in account selling. You would need very strict rules in place to combat this.

2) ungrandfather peoples extras and get rid of people's extras they got via the alt loophole. Not to mention, take away housing from people on dynamis who just made an alt there for a house. You got xbox coming and they won't have a fair shot because ppl greedy over virtual property.

3) scrap the system altogether. You failed already with it. Allowed this shortage to continue. People won't stop asking and you either will be forced to do instanced, keep people whining or scrap it.

Ask yourself this. With 10 years left in the game. Do you want to do something to make the community actually happy with you in one aspect or do you want them to continually cry while the few charge absurd amounts for a fc house

People don't want to pay extra for a feature they can get for free inside the game already, people will not gladly pay for it as it is, they would pay for additional active content that goes in other directions if anything.

And running these servers is not something one do in ones mothers basement either, it is way more complex than that.

And it is already stated that they want to be able to keep the neighborhood feel to the system as we got now.

If you want to move anything move the workshop outside of playerhousing entirely and make it work through the Grand Company your FC stand allied with at Limsa/Uldah/Gridania instead.

I mean, I know hindsight is 20/20, but they should have just initially added the Dynamis worlds to the already crowded NA DCs. Then they could all que for duties together, and travel between them is a little easier. I think it would’ve been a lot easier to get people to spread out more that way. The problem with Dynamis is that, legit or not, it’s gotten a rep for being a dead DC that people only have as their home world for the real estate and “have” to DC travel for everything else. And that isn’t appealing to a lot of people.

They could always move it later lol. Brynildr was one of those worlds (Ex- Brynildrian 2014-2016) It was on the primal data center but it got moved.

When I started in the STB patches, it was a preferred world with the xp bonus. Now it’s almost as full as the other Crystal worlds. So maybe that is a thing that could happen. lol
