Started on a NA account: Moved to EU: Now cannot pay my sub. Anyone else stuck?

This isn't something exclusive to Square Enix. Playstation network also doesn't allow you to move regions. I used to live in an EEA country and then moved to the UK. I contacted both and was told that I could not move my accounts over.

The EEA country was very strict with how people paid for transactions so I was stuck using a paysafecard (like a prepaid credit card) and was still paying in Euros. I would be paying £1 to 3 extra a month on my subscription so I made the decision to create a new account in my new region and start again. I put my new char in my old char's FC and eventually became lead of it. It's not ideal but it worked for me.

Pretty sure the act of buying gametime cards is region locked to those in the region. I don't think SE store loves fake addresses because out of desperation I tried it once and they not only did they take my money but took them 2 weeks to refund it because it was 'declined'. The other option is buying it on Amazon which each gametime card is locked to the residents of those countries. People who live in NA can only buy NA codes, and same with EU.

It's even worse and harder for people who aren't in NA/EU and are getting screwed by this new processor changes, then their options may get extremely limited if not flat out impossible. A company shouldn't be pushing their customers to start looking towards shady third party websites to buy gametime cards, especially if things were working fine before.

I think everyone should be allowed access to optional content as well if they want. If SE doesn't want to officially support these regions then they should've region locked their game and saved people alot of headache. People out of NA/EU exist, people can move countries- these people exist too, they shouldn't have to abandon years of work and start on a new account because SE wants to screw them over because people don't travel apparently and don't exist out of NA and EU.

My credit card was the only thing that works, with this new change I'm sure it won't work anymore. Crysta is blocked in my region too Why? I don't know.
I'd like to access the optional stuff just like everyone else, retainers, etc. Gametime cards are just a bandaid fix- if people can even access those because I know I don't

I'm in the same situation as an American who moved to Germany. I was able to use paypal to buy Crysta, even with my German card, despite my Square Enix account being registered to an American address.. It's annoying, but it works.

Made an EU account before moving to Canada and I'm at a loss on how to maintain the sub. IIRC they discontinued Gametime cards in Canada a while back due to FOREX issues (and even if they're still sold, I'd need to get an EU card), and it's much more expensive for me to buy them from someplace like Amazon.de. Plus apparently our payment address needs to match our SE account address now, which puts me in a bit of a pickle since SE doesn't let you change account regions.

This is a solved problem in 2024. Every other live service producer from Blizzard to Bungie to Hoyoverse to Zenimax has a simplified online payment system regardless of region, while it feels like Square has only just moved on from mailing cheques.

Square still uses fax machines and pagers, I doubt they have any kind of actual department in charge of modernizing their internal or external systems so a change that could be solved by most companies in less than a week is a grand undertaking of epic proportions that will require months if not years to complete.

How they even function is a mystery to me.

The game is region locked. That is why so many players are having difficulty right now. Many methods previously used to bypass the region locks aren't working with the new payment processor.

Many players are having difficulties unrelated to region locks. Both players who have moved between two supported regions and also players who have stayed within the same supported region this entire time.
