You're missing the point: Retainer Fantasia allows you to use a retainer to model and refine a new character model for your character. You can do multiple refinements of the look using multiple Retainer Fantasias, trying them out under real lighting and with different outfits, before using a real-money Fantasia to apply it to your character.
Given the new graphics update and what we've seen of its effect on characters, this may be something you want to do.
Not everyone wants to spend $9 a pop refining the look of their character after DT launch.

It's still cheap enough that you can buy 10 for 100K, alternatively you can use the Benchmark (when the updated one drops) to get a general impression and then use maybe a couple in-game to test the look on a retainer.

I can't imagine anyone needing 10 tries to just refine a look.

I know someone who used 3 Fantasias just to adjust their character's breast size to get the "right" look in a Draped Damascan Top.
IIRC, the best size for them was 73.

I don't know what's more eyebrow raising:
A dude using 3 fantasias just for the sake of altering their retainers boobs or that you remember what number they decided on.

I mainly remember that the number wasn't 99.
