Let's not overlook the fact that similar occurrences can arise in Raids as well, albeit often with a kernel of truth underlying them. The integrity of every facet of this game has been sorely neglected and overlooked. Most individuals seem indifferent to the achievements of each piece of content, focusing solely on the rewards it offers. Even Fall Guys succumbed to this trend.

99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt
It's the only reason I even bothered with getting a friend to carry me through an Ultimate, I just wanted my favorite staff (Stardust Rod for life) in the fancy glowy texture, fact is I don't touch any content that doesn't appeal to me personally and I really don't see any point to getting an 'achievement' in a videogame, no one's going to give you a gold medal for being the best at a game outside of e-sports so why bother? I think people just want to feel special any way they can and getting something other people can't have gives them their jollies, even though they got it when the game was less popular and thus had less competition but whatever I guess, no one else ever on the planet can get their special super duper gear set (despite it being part of the Benchmark, talk about a disappointment for any sprouts that thought it looked cool.)
Oh my, actually gonna write something.
For the people who think Trophy Crystal or Wolf Collars are a good currency for old rewards. No, not really.
They are kinda junk loot by now. You get them by afk'ing in frontline if you really wanted to.
What do I have now as a semiactive PvP player nowadays? 190 wolf collars, 54k trophy crystals - which can optionally be exchanged for 1 Million Wolfmarks. Currency I won't get to spend for the next 10 FF addons.
I don't know what I should buy with them. The only item that can be sold on marketboard for 1000 trophy crystals sells for like 2000 gil, not worth the time.
Which leads to
The created a system of participation rewards, in exchange of PvP ranked players going out empty. Okay fine.
But at least they need to address that there is something to spend the series rewards on.
And I think it should be a longterm grind item, like a relic. Something where you can dump your Trophy Crystals in. Make it cost 100 Wolfcollar, make it a new mount e.g. a fearsome PvP wolf like the horses we had for frontline, each GC one, so many possibilities. Or make it a special PvP specific frontline armor set.
Even cooler would be unique skills or skill/LB animations upgrades (like Guild Wars 2 does it), but I doubt they would do such a thing.
But if there is nothing, players will ask "why not simply add old rewards" - and if they do that, it is basically telling players who actually like to play PvP, that the game mode is not for them. It tells them that they don't need to compete to get something, that they can just get everything they want a year later easily. It makes ranked mode meaningless and it hurts the PvP playerbase of which many already quit.
You literally straight up cannot get any of the old Feast rewards, ever, competition or not, you could be the MOST dedicated PVP champion of all time and if you just came to FFXIV right now you wouldn't even get to try and earn that stuff, getting it years later for a more casual grind at least means it's accessible. But what you'd want and what would ACTUALLY help ranked PVP is new rewards you can earn with a ranked-focus, however that's basically not going to happen, the devs can't even devote a single employee for a couple hours a day to add tail holes to gear let alone have people designing and making new rewards for a very niche straight-up not popular facet of PVP, which is itself not very popular anyways (as made obvious by the state of PVP.)
If they add old ranked rewards that new ranked players weren't around for, those new players will quit because.
This is your argument. That adding old rewards will make new players quit.
There are plenty of strong wow pvp players that came over to dominate ranked cc in ffxiv recently (ffxiv CC pvp is a joke in difficulty compared to other games), and none have ever complained about old rewards being unobtainable. Actual competitive gamers know that each season is different, something worked for one season cannot be replicated and so can't the effort taken to achieve those rewards.
But speaking of most dedicated pvp players, well they aren't even in this thread. The majority of the people in this thread have never even reached gold rank (which is basically free, cause you can't even demote) or even play ranked at all. Everyone complains about rewards, saying they'd play if these unique rewards were available, yet there are literally exclusive rewards in CC this very second yet I see more posts by some people in this thread than ranked games they've ever queued up in their life.
This I agree with, there are way more problems in gear than old pvp items.the devs can't even devote a single employee for a couple hours a day to add tail holes to gear let alone have people designing and making new rewards for a very niche straight-up not popular facet of PVP, which is itself not very popular anyways (as made obvious by the state of PVP.)
This may not happen but for sure a few old players might quit.
The tiniest lala.

The number of people who would be interested in ranked for old rewards is likely infinitely higher than the number who would quit. Why? Because less than 500 of each item exist.
I don't see why it's ok to abandon legacy players who actually put in the effort to play just so a few new players who have never even put in a single ranked game (despite there currently being exclusive ranked rewards right this very second that they can obtain) will play a gamemode in this game of which they expect to win a competitive reward from grinding afk crystals. Like look at the suggestions in this thread, people are literally suggesting that competitive rewards be available for 20 trophy crystals. It is not ok to trade time for skill in skill based rewards.
The tiniest lala.
Reading this thread made me realize that there's never going to be any consensus between players because the elitist PvPers will scream bloody murder if SE tries to bring back those rewards.
