I agree with OP, grind achievements are lazy from the dev. At least up the rewards or something.

I think that:

1. when they design an achievement, at least one dev has to go through the process of completing it. If they didn't have fun then it's not a good achievement. Great achievements should encourage people to change their playstyle, or have a bit of skill to it. Blue mage achievements are nice for example.
2. it shouldn't be so easily bot-able.
3. it should have a better reward at the end
4. going through the main content should contribute to a majority of the completion. ie: if completing island sanctuary you're not 75% towards completing the achievement then the achievement was badly tuned. An example of a badly tuned achievement is the 20k accursed hoard achievement.
