I've always used the 6 month sub. I think it's slightly discounted compared to month-to-month. If the 1 year sub were even further discounted it would be a no brainer. But even if it were the same price I would probably use it, it would be easier to keep track of my billing date that way.

This is such a strange and wild statement, a company concerned about me wasting too much money on it?

I'd like to have the option to choose for myself, how I'd like to waste my own money. I want to throw money at SE, let me throw money at SE. There's no refunds on sub time, so what's the issue? There's already tiered options and people who subscribe with Steam iirc can add more to their subtime up to a year. You can also buy game time cards and charge up to a year.

But game time cards purchases are region locked for some weird reason despite it being a digital product. So I feel people who are being scuffed are those wanting to resub using the mogstation and have no legit means of buying game time cards because anyone who lives out of NA and EU does not exist according to their website.

ok throw away your money, i don't care anymore. The way some of you all act, you do need to be saved from yourselves.

I merely pointed flaws in your statement which was enough to get you acting up. People are asking for ONE option, not asking to reduce them.

If something happened to you in a year and for some reason you can't afford the luxury of a game sub, cancel it. If you make a financial choice that you regret later because something unforeseen happens in the year, that sounds like a you problem.

Don't act like you care because you never did, you got upset because you got called out and now resort to petty remarks.

that amount of money thrown away because you cancel your year long sub a month into it, if it was just basic entry sub, no retainers... might not be much to someone.

say you have 10 retainers, you sub to the companion app, you have the full amount of characters. you cancel a month into a year's worth of sub you've paid for... that's a few hundred dollars down the drain that you might have better spent. That's my point.

And a person making that choice knows the risks involved and can likely afford to take the hit. Your argument is ridiculous.

That’s exactly my position. I was hospitalized the summer before Endwalker because of my health issues and the last thing on my mind was the game. (Which really sucked since the benchmark then came out while I was sick so I couldn’t even be excited for that. T_T) That’s why I started to use time cards. Also I nearly lost my private cottage because of it, luckily I was able to log on in the nick of time for that not to happen, but I still didn’t feel like playing the game during my recovery period at home. It’d be nice if those could be tied to subs too. I understand why they’re not, but I feel like with the new lottery system that’s not as big an issue?

I assume there was a cost analysis done on it, and SE decided that it wasn't in the company's interest. Longer sub times are offered as a way to hopefully get people to be subscribed longer than they would otherwise, to increase profit. In exchange, the longer subs are discounted to make them more attractive offers. If they offered a 12-month sub, it would be expected to offer a steeper discount than the current 6-month.

The question then is how many extra subscription months would be captured versus the current recurring 6-month subs, and how that matches up against the amount lost to discount price, and it probably doesn't come out in SE's favor. I would wager most people willing to jump on 6-month subs are already perpetual players, and in all those players' cases, SE wouldn't be getting any extra sub months, and would just be losing money, and the people who would end up subbed for more months aren't a significant enough % to make it up for SE.

I use the absolute cheapest per month option myself but I don't see why they couldn't have the option, like, it seems like a no-brainer but SE is notorious for making it harder to give them your money than it has any right being.

If someone isn't certain they're going to stick around for a year, they can pick one of the other payment options.

Personally, I've played without interruption since the latter half of HW and see nothing in my future that would change that. I would consider paying a full year in advance if it were an option and if paying that amount would fit into my budget for a month.

Don't forget there are a lot of people around here that continue to pay for the game just to keep a house and not because they're interested in playing the game. People do the strangest things with their money but it's their choice.
