I don't see how this can cause a delay. The date is already announced, unless they want a repeat of EW (fun fact, they don't). Needless to say, their last resort would be to release as is, and then add the updates later.

Yup, being tied to this industry myself, I can't say I haven't heard anything like that ahah. That's why that meme still makes sense, even if he didn't say it outright.

And on-topic also : we don't care who said it, it's still true. I don't think they'll delay the expac, they could've launch it earlier if that was not for Elden Ring. They're probably very close to being ready.
But if they consider that it needs to be delayed, I don't see the point crying for that. It's better to wait a bit more than having a massive amount of negative on release to please the impatients.

Edit : And I say that as an impatient myself. I don't like the changes of my character, but I know I could live with it if it stays as it is in the benchmark, and I'm VERY eager to play through Dawntrail because that content drought is killing me.

I agree here for some things, lets say that they need to delay to make the seams go away, this is an objective issue everyone can agree on and I'd rather wait X amount of time and have seams for a decade just because we rushed them to release.

On the other hand, lets say its to rollback a change that not everyone agrees with like adding the mouth gap again to Miqo 4, just because some people think it gave it personality and now people who had vacations scheduled to coincide with release have to reschedule their vacations and also cause all sorts of delays down the release pipeline then no, that is unreasonable. Some people considered those flaws that needed to get fixed. And now they are getting put back into the game because unbeknownst to them, while they were celebrating after running the benchmark with their friends and not even checking the forums people here complained and now the game is delayed so they can put the flaw back into the game.
