Dawntrail Graphical Update - Au Ra Feedback

For those who have time, I suggest crossposting your feedback to the Japanese forum, where there is a [centralized thread here] that is being used to discuss the graphical update.

I will do that once I have screenshots to show.

For someone with multiple characters do you know whether they prefer people to put all their character issues in one post, or if it should be one character per post for individual voting on issues?

And do they mind if you write in English and put the Google Translate version next to it?

Regarding the number of characters per post - I've seen people do either one without issue. I think making one post with all of your concerns in it is fine, unless you have detailed analyses for each that are long enough to need their own post.

As for language - I used Google Translate to Japanese and did not post the original English version, and most people contributing with non-Japanese native languages seem to be doing the same. The couple of posts I made over there seemed well received despite only having the translated Japanese - the posters over there seem mature and respectful, so they're receptive to western feedback too.

I'm not sure the dev teams will have time to comb through the dozens of individual threads on the western forums, especially as most of the staff is located in Japan, so I think it's more likely that your voices will be heard on the JP forums. Many posts here are thorough and insightful, and it would be a shame to see that kind of feedback go unheard.

[I myself posted my character here] and agree with the sentiment held by many posters here - in my opinion, the female Face 4 has been bloated beyond recognition, and has lost the angular features that previously gave it a sharp and coherent aesthetic.

Many of the races really were updated beautifully, but it's hard to see my character now and not feel let down. If you feel the same, please be sure to share your thoughts at the link above.

Koji Fox has actually spoken on an event before that tells that they do check all of the forums despite language barrier. Koji got called in once, by Yoshida and the Japanese team, over the larboard and starboard incident when that one Omega fight was initially released which had caused a bunch of activity on the English forums and they had asked him to explain what was going on. So they likely are checking in on all of the language forums as well. And, considering how big of an incident this has become across multiple languages, I've even seen some Chinese speakers on twitter talking about all of this, I can only imagine what the FF14 dev offices are like right now.

Them looking better to people who don't play an Au Ra character does not equal looking like the same character. And if you seriously can't see how the lips now slightly curve up and now have dimples, here's my much harsher lighting comparison between my personal Face 4 au ra.

She doesn't look anything like herself. She looks soft and cutified and has had dimples added. Which may be an improvement to some people, but she's not my character. I've played her for eight years, I know what facial features she has. And no, there are no mouth options that get rid of the new dimples for face 4. I could even compromise if I had to for the rounder face, but the dimples are too much. Especially when Face 2 already had dimples and they took them from Face 2 in the upgrade.

I like most the changes to the Au Ra scales, both Xaela and especially the less yellow Raen scales. My only complaints with the changes is the lack of gloss on the lips and the slight change to face 1s lip 2 size. I only play face 1 so I can’t comment on the others. I would like my lips a little bigger again please thanks.

This might as well be an entire new face option, does not look like your au ra and it's not an acceptable replacement

To be fair, the forum only displays the one character regardless of how many you actually play. I'm just as active on and passionate about my Au Ra as I am on the Midlander I use as my avatar.

The issue is in people who are not familiar with and attached to an individual face seeing it as "looking better" when the goal really should be to keep it looking the same but more HD.

Typically, the draw to that face is primarilly because it gives the vibe of being "sharp" "grumpy" "harsh" and "fierce". "Cuteness" is way down the priority list and is covered by two other faces for fem au ra.
