Well it's not really S.E.'s fault that you can't appreciate architecture, no offense. Not everything has to be over-the-top. And in any case, Limsa Lominsa isn't exactly subtle either. I mean, Limsa Lominsa is far from being "just caves". Next time you're there, maybe look around and appreciate what's around you.
When someone has to clarify a statement with no offense it's usually a good indicator of intended offense but anyway. Half of the nice looking places in limsa you'd can't actually access; the lighthouse, those buildings you see in the distance with the huge windows.

Aside from that the buildings are almost identical once you're inside them with exception of one that while identical it has a fish tank. Other than that everything is just cold and grey and the main feature of a city built on top of the sea would be the sea I'd imagine but we currently have a 2D sheet of carpet instead of a sea.

There's precisely 2 neat things about Limsa; the pirate ship and the walkways. They're redesigning the game to be a next gen MMO using a brand new engine we should expect more than what we already have and you shouldn't have to get defensive just because not everyone agrees Limsa is a shining bastion of design.

The Ul'duh Inn is like an antique shop...full of crap and always closed.

Well, no offense, but clearly it's been a while since you've been in Limsa, because there's a lot of stuff there beyond cold and grey rocks and "precisely 2 neat things".

All I really, really want from the zone revamp / engine upgrade is life. Every area unique and richly detailed in its own way. Something always happening, even if it's only an owl catching a mouse or a wyvern gliding in the distance. No zone indistinguishable from another by a glance.

With the technical beauty of this engine, it's depressing that Vana'diel completely overshadows Eorzea in true beauty. Having nice textures and fancy rendering tricks won't save a world that has no heart and soul put into it.

If they can make zones like this with crystal tools it will blow my mind, transparent glass or not. Though it would be nice to have that stuff too

Exactly my point. It would be a completely different-looking place and hence wouldn't exist anymore. Unless I'm speaking a foreign language without realising it, I think I made perfect sense. It's kind of funny how in other threads you always get so annoyed when people gloss over your points or purposely misunderstand you, and then you just go and do the same thing to me.

And the reason Blade and Soul is relevant is because anyone who likes it for its "creative" art style (or lack thereof) immediately has their taste called into question.
    So condescending .. lol

FWIW you said "I don't know how someone can find the nerve to wish Lominsa didn't exist." you remember ?

Which suggests that I implied it never existed, I don't remember saying such a thing.

The dev team already have plans to redesign the world, including the cities, so you shouldn't get too bent out of shape when Limsa no longer looks like Limsa in 2.0.

How likely is that statement considering the Ul'dah Inn has been down for a few weeks now.

Changing the subject a little, I really hope they plan to have NPC's that go about doing random tasks, walking around the cities etc, just to add a bit of life to the game.

The current static NPC's that just shuffle about are pretty dull and lifeless.

I was thinking about this the other day when I ended up taking the ferry for the first time in like a year. The water in this game has absolutely no transparency either and it makes the water look like its flowing under the boat instead of the boat traveling through the water. The same can be said for any area with a large body of water though. It doesn't look like the water is surrounding certain land areas, but in fact going under it because of this lack of transparency.

It's much more stable and efficient to do in offline titles/smaller online titles (i.e FPS) than it is in MMOs. That video, like the FFVII PS3 demo, was a tech demo to test the hardware, nothing more so it's more than possible to produce great transparancy effects (Look at XIII-2), it's not viable in an MMO unless the engine can do it flawlessly, which is why most MMOs lacks it in a major way. (Usually only tied to water effects if anything.)

Don't you know that, that is the american way? If you say no offence you are in the clear to belittle or dis respect ppl.

Like I could say, "You are a freaking moron and the world would be better off if you go kill yourself, no offence." I said no offence so its ok i can later treat it as a joke ^.^ XD.

Anyways back on topic, dang i havent seen that video in years o.0, and i dont like how FFXIV doesnt look anything like that, heck FFXI has more similarities i think.

You remember a lot of things. It's called "selective memory". Feel free to renege on your statement at the last minute though, but we all saw it; you implied you hated Limsa Lominsa, and would rather it be replaced entirely. Why you're disputing this is beyond me. I mean, it's your stance, anyway, right?

Anyhow, I doubt they will change LL much in 2.0. There's zero proof that they intend to rectify a problem that really only exists in your mind anyway.

Oh and sorry if this sounds condescending. I don't really know how to explain politely why you're so wrong.

Besides, I love how I'm the mean one here. Everyone's picking on poor little Limsa Lominsa meanwhile I'm the one actually standing up for it. And for good reason too. I don't know what super wonderful MMOs/video games you guys all play that has all these amazing cities that put Limsa to shame, but I've sure got some magical beans to sell you if you do.

Where have you been lately? That's not the American way. In america, if you say no offence and then belittle someone ... they shoot you. (It's in the constitution if you don't believe me).

And wow, "even FFXI had more similarities". You people sure see what you want to see!

Also Hypocrisy. I mean, he even says this:

When all he does is belittle people's opinions too, especially if it's regarding SE's other MMO. But yeah, as for "XI having more similarities"...I'm not sure in regards to which city, while it does resemble Jeuno's layout, it still looks a bit more like Limsa than anything.

Let's keep condescending remarks about other people's thoughts and opinions out of this thread, please.

I want this to be a discussion, hell, I wanted this to be just for the developers to see about glass. It's not all related to Limsa Lominsa. It's about glass.
