It looks like a lightning skill so I'd bet on it being ramuh based and the shot doesn't have the pet because it's done in that weird interim period where the summon is disappearing and carbuncle is reappearing on purpose to hide ramuh.
maybe ramuh, shiva, leviathan after phoenix? but also fester and painflare have lightning in them already so it could just be an upgrade for one of those.
Fester and Painflare both display the blue Ability whirl. The action in the benchmark does not.
Leading up to EW, Yoshi-P dodged the pressure of being the one to choose the JP tier V spell suffix for all of Final Fantasy for the rest of all time by just calling Fire V and Blizzard V the FF-coded equivalents of High Fire II and High Blizzard II. If this spell isn't Burst it'll probably just be High Thunder II or III, though it could be something not called Thunder at all a la Despair.

Pretty much spot on regarding the Thunder name.Fester and Painflare both display the blue Ability whirl. The action in the benchmark does not.

There is a good chance this is actually "Burst". Burst is the thunder-type spell equivalent of Flare, Freeze, Tornado, Quake, Flood, Holy and Doomsday (names taken from various FF and Bravely titles). Already exists in PvP, with a slightly different animation.
Of course chance it could just be "High Thunder IV" (implying there is also a High Thunder III) but I hope for better. Would be nice if BLM finally had the thunder equivalent to Flare and Freeze.
"Burst" is the FFXI name of the lightning elemental ancient magic, like "Flare" is for fire and "Freeze" for ice.Fester and Painflare both display the blue Ability whirl. The action in the benchmark does not.

Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.
that SAM Skill looks like a Single Target Ogi.. but the Cone Effect at the end is strange
The thing is that the lightning at the end of the animation is very reminiscent of Ramuh's thunder orbs seen even in his ShB fight.
Maybe they made the awkward Fester/ED interact with the summons, which would be lovely becasue those actions feel like a relic of the past that doesn't fit the new SMN anymore.
it's a possiblity
take this with a grain of salt since I can't personally validate it, but someone on reddit posted some datamined info from the trailer, and it showed enkindle bahamut skill transforming to enkindle phoenix transforming into a third skill. If true, this is pretty huge.
it implies not only a third burst summon, but also potentially the death of the two minute DPS meta (unless the lego skills no longer take up a full minute) but also means that the new summons could be locked behind the third enkindle phase.
