Heck disliking a product (ie- voice work) doesn't mean disliking the person who made it. I still haven't researched her at all as a person because I don't care- just about what she produced.

Yeah the other thread(s) were a lot of yikes. Even this one had a lot of bigoted stuff in it. Stuff like oh a trans person could never have the right pitch. Along with the VA not having the correct Spanish accent. As it came off as most having a problem with her VA's acting skills the day the patch dropped and the VA posted that she was Wuk's VA. Even though no one had seemed to have had a problem with her voice while hearing it from the trailers. As the whole oh she's a trans woman information about her also came to light at the same time. Yes we all know not everyone watches the trailers, but many who were raising said points while failing to not make it sound as though that was the actual issue had seen at least one of the trailers.

That and every voice in the patch sounded off. So rather than just think there was a mixing or direction issue, it's the VA. But only for Wuk, not the rest of the cast that sounded flat and terrible compared to their usual quality.

Tinker Bell is a homicidal sociopath who, last time I watched a Tinker Bell vid, has become an engineer.
So, probably my favorite Disney character.

(The Tinker Bell direct -to-video movies are far better than I expected: better than many of the company's recent theatrical releases IMO.)

wuk lamat's VA is garnering a lot of hate for stupid things. first of all it's not a "spanish" accent, people are looking for a LATINO/latinoamerican accent, so anyone who says "erm its the wrong ~spanish~ accent" should not be trusted with a 20 foot pole. second of all her VA is puerto rican......... she's latina...... what is problem (i say this as a mexican). tural looks like it's already shaping up to be a mish-mash of various cultures, and most people (cough americans cough) probably can't tell the difference in the first place, and there's actually no way everyone who's bitching about this *is* latino (most of the people pushing back about early "criticism" of people being worried abt latinoamerican rep in DT are probably white americans to begin with? lets just be real) so its throwing a hissy fit over nothing.

3rd of all literally all the voices in this game were kinda terrible right around heavensward. we've heard wuk lamat speak in a handful of cutscenes and for less than 30 seconds in the trailer? VAs need time to get accustomed to their roles & hit their stride with the direction. making a feedback thread this early about her voice actress being bad for no reason is dumb & everyone complaining about it is equally as dumb sorry there's literally nothing constructive happening in this thread that isnt transphobic bullshit or pushing back against even daring to suggest that maybe a trans woman is getting a lot of unfair flack. luckily square enix doesnt listen to you guys so we're saved

The voice sounds just fine to me, and I don't mind the accent. I think the accent adds character to the voice.

i asked a friend of mine her opinion (as a transwoman who does work as a voice coach) and she thought lamat sounded more androgynous than feminine. maybe she'll have grown into the role during recording for the 7.0 msq

Thread is going nowhere at this point. 25% of people are truly phobic, 25% just don't like the voice, 25% think everyone who doesn't like it is phobic and like the voice, and 25% think the voice is great.

Have a feeling it will just keep going in circles forever. No one is going to be convinced.

Though on one point- yes Hispanic accent would be a better term. Where I am (originally) from Spanish/Hispanic were used interchangeably as we had people from Mexico, yes, but also Guatamala, Honduras, El Salvador, etc.

Though amusingly when I visited Spain Spaniards hated the idea of a Spanish accent too- instead (much like any other country) it was Andalusian, Catalonian, Castillian, Galician, etc. Beautiful country. Highly recommend anyone who can to visit it, especially if you can speak Spanish (really made life easier for me there but like... I feel like that's the rule for all foreign countries).
