And then part of the audience is like "Yes, exactly!!", while the other part is like "Wait, what, isn't that double standard?"
That's the polemic about Bryer's tweet about Ohanian voicing Bridget. She has more of these kind of xeets, which just makes me wonder why is she so negative about Ohanian's casting?
Is that really a good look to be known among other actors and even directors, maybe, about your opinion like that? What about the fans?
At least I find it hard to just ignore attitude like that, even if it is hopelessly minor thing.
I think trans actors should absolutely be accepted to every kind of role they're being called to voice. Voice acting is neat like that, because it absolutely can transcend shallow qualities like that, like sex or age or race.
...Tina Belcher, Edna Mode, Bart Simpson - almost literally every other shounen anime protagonist; Naruto, Luffy, Edward Elric, mot#her ducking Goku.

One last time, I just fail miserably to see any fair reasoning on Bryer's part for her strange and strangely public opinions broadcasting, in situation where lukewarm "gz for role, fellow actor" would look wacktillion times more professional, and respectable.

If I had to guess, not having any stake in this, it's that trans characters are few and far between, so if there are trans VAs, giving them the roles would be beneficial as a whole, as there are few of them also.

Honestly that whole argument should be thrown out imo.
The selected va should just be the best one for the job. Their sexuality/nationality/etc shouldn't be a factor in it what so ever. I mean just look at how often a female plays a male character and no one bats an eye. Because the performance is good.

modern evangelical Republicans sure, there are tons of evangelicals that simply (try to at least) follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, which are about as opposite as anything you'll find on Trump's side of the fence as you can get.

I agree with you though, the idea of equity vs equality is part of the issue. Trans people simply need more support compared to non-trans people to be on equal footing, hence making a focus to give trans people roles. It's the same idea as companies looking at their management and realizing that they're 95% white males and thinking okay, how do we work to be more inclusive? Unfortunately, it often ends up feeling very artificial and forced, because it is. People by and large aren't going to naturally be inclusive.

That makes as much sense as saying that a real Danish Prince should be given the role of Hamlet, since there are so few of them.

There's exactly two Princes of Denmark at the moment, BTW.

More how the entire thing started, really. Back when the patch dropped, there was one thread that, according to those who saw it, was very... blatant with its bigotry. Even in this thread there was blatant and even "hidden in plain sight" bigotry, though they're deleted now (though looking back some pages, some "edit reasons" were missed). Bringing up SBI at all is also pushing a very specific agenda (or conspiracy theory, propaganda, whatever nonsense those gamers are making up on the go) that has nothing to do with the topic of the thread at all.

It's fine to criticise someone's work. It's also fine to criticise the voice director (who seems to have been MIA for that mini patch). But calling for the VA to be fired just because some weren't satisfied with their performance is very entitled and yes, this applies to Sena's opinion as well. I get what she said, but that was really unprofessional and I hope over the year she's had time to reflect.
