




It is very true that even without leaving NA there's a noticeable difference in dialect depending on where you go. I went to the South on a work trip recently and for the first time in my life felt like my relatively neutral (as American accents go) Californian-with-Midwestern-parents accent marked me as an outsider.
Try growing up in the south with 2 parents from Detroit. I have no discernable accent. It was very weird listening to some people talk lol.
