They did though. That was just a recap.

so more time could be given to getting upgrades done cause 2-3 months is kind of cutting it close imo if finances hadn't already been allocated towards it already.
Realistically they were always going to aim for the 2060 though. A card that's been out a while, reasonably priced, other cards before it sometimes had similar specs.

Same question, any official documentation for it other than icyveins or requiring watching the livestreams?

Not trying to fight anyone, just trying to see if I simply missed a lodestone announcing the specs months ago or if this was something you only would know by being involved in the pre-Dawntrail streams/following updates on news sites or social media.

I don't think so, but it's unfortunate if an FFXIV player deprives themselves of: every single FFXIV news website, every youtube channel, that breaks down stuff like this. Many websites and youtubers rush to release "summaries" of live letters for those who don't want to watch. You don't have to read those summaries either. You can just look at all the slides from it, which are also usually on places like reddit or the reddit discord as well.

I mean, I personally avoid anything outside of official documentation for the sake of preventing spoilers as much as I can (I'd rather not have to skip through video summaries compared to just having SE release a lodestone where the topic is clear). I like having some aspects of the game remain a surprise to discover while playing (I actually use patch notes as a sort of travel guide) so I have not watched any Live Letters or videos from CCs. This was my first time seeing anything about specs and I only saw it because of someone in a discord server tagged everyone and posted a screen shot saying they'd have to upgrade.

Probably should have just lodestoned everything abou5t specs regardless so people who don't interact in the social media/youtube side of this game could be on the same page as those who want to watch and know everything. I feel that at least would warrant getting the word out on the official platforms for.

That's fair and you're right that they do spoil things a certain amount in live letters and keynotes. They spoil it enough to make you excited, but without revealing everything. It does reduce the surprise and excitement of the story itself though, sadly.

For example, the Shadowbringers keynotes told us "you will be told the story of the Warrior of Darkness" and you will "go from area to area, restoring darkness to each area". Simply doing 2+2 made you realize this would be via fighting dungeon/trial bosses, because that's how the game works. And then the launch trailer spoiled who certain primals were.

The Endwalker material spoiled that it was the end of the arc with a poster of you-know-who and it was obvious who we'd be fighting in the trials. It was heavily hinted we'd be going to a place involving the ancients due to some concept art, although I did not know it would be "going back in time". It was heavily hinted we'd be going beyond the moon when they dropped the 1.0 trailer right before release and made me fairly confident we'd be going to the Dragon Star, which technically we sorta did.

So I get what you mean here.

(I do want to say, that in all cases, they did not really spoil Hades or Meteion, they tend to keep who the last trial boss is sort of unclear, it could have been Vauthry and Zenos/Fandaniel/Hydaelyn/Zodiark/etc.

The story is also very nuanced, so you can have the key elements spoiled but still enjoy learning the nuances. It's like how when you go to watch a Superman movie, you know the main character is Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, you know they will win, but you don't know how and what exact hurdles they'll go through, and that's ultimately what you're going there to find out.)

They should have put it on the lodestone earlier. I did do a scroll back to see if they did and also used archive.org and they didn't have them up earlier. The keynotes were also not transcribed and put in the live letter forum like live letters are, so you couldn't actually read an official summary like with live letters. The specs also aren't actually shown in the trailers.

From: https://www.shacknews.com/article/13...m-requirements, published July 28, 2023 : "Square Enix and Creative Business Unit 3 shared the new Final Fantasy 14 PC system requirements during the keynote at Final Fantasy Fan Festival in Las Vegas." That was in July of last year.

Many gaming news sites picked it up from the Fan Fest and reported it.

Here in the forums, I found a screencap of the DT requirements posted in January: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-and-Dawntrail

Well they have now, three months in advance of early access. And I think anyone really concerned about it, who needed more than 3 months notice of the new PC requirements, probably could have easily found the info earlier with a simple internet search for "FFXIV Dawntrail system requirement."

That's fair (and for the record I'm going to be able to upgrade in time after speaking to my partner), I just think it's kind of strange that they wouldn't post something as important as specs when they first speak about them in all the places available so people don't fall through the cracks. Relying on people to watch LL's or watch YouTubers is fine but I surely can't be the only person in the world who prefers keeping things as spoiler free as possible until launch. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one in my friend group that ignores LL's at least. So, all I'm asking for is for important information that the masses should know about (like PC specs) should be posted everywhere possible that people usually frequent to get information (LL's, YT summaries, Lodestone news, an official pop up in game (like when we get maintenance reminders) with a link to click on, etc.). I don't think that's a bad thing to ask for nor is there really any downside to doing it.
