Another way to interpret the statement is wanting to backtrack a little on the 'play other games' statement . Like yes, a game should absolutely not get in the way of your life, but it's not bad for a game, or any other media to demand some level of commitment, and your attention while you are engaged with it.

I mean, this is already something we know of since field operations are returning to DT. Besides, I don't think the language matches up. I don't really see how a lack of a time sink translates to a "side scroller with no holes to fall through" so-to-speak. Granted we are dealing with a language barrier, but it makes more sense based on the translation to assume he's referring to something regarding the streamlined job design, the difficulty of normal content such as dungeons, normal raids, and alliance raids, or both.

I think about things like healer AOEs being the size of Narnia. Making it nearly if not literally impossible to miss someone with an AOE buff sounds more like a lack of a hole to fall through, or Myths of the Realm being a raid you can do while sleeping, dungeon bosses being afraid to hurt you, etc.

Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.

It does kinda go hand in hand though if you assume their design headspace is 'asking players to learn the nuances of their jobs does not respect their time' or 'asking players to learn how to overcome a challenging fights does not respect their time.'

When I think of the "go play other games" discussion, I'm thinking of a lack of rewards to grind for or word toward. The lack of field ops, the underwhelming rewards for island sanctuary, variant dungeons, etc. and how quickly content like the mentioned examples are complete and no longer require engagement from the player. Which to me does not sound like "a side scroller with no holes." That would be more accurately a side scroller with only 1 level. So all I'm saying is I don't think his statement really applies to the "go play other games" argument, unless there's something lost in translation, but that "go play other games" argument is already being addressed when they announced the return of field ops, meaning I'm not sure why he would talk about the game being too stress-free now while that has already been established.

In other words, I think what he's talking about is trying to foster either job design, encounter design, or both that has more elements that can be failed.
