Gotta love the roulette friends who’ll defend anything to the endSo... I'm doing the Aery on an alt (I'm SCH) and WAR giga pulls, which is fine. He uses immunity and drops to 1, and because I am me, I spam two lustrates on him because... you know, 1 HP.
The following ensues (I'm paraphrasing, and shortening the exchange):
Tank: You probably don't play WAR at all, or you'd know we have a ton of healing xD
Me: Yeah, I know. (Apparently I crossed the line with this one)
Tank friend: Well, you could be using that time to DPS
Me: I don't know how you play, so I'm still gonna shield you and heal you.
Tank: You really should listen to advice.
Me: I don't trust a PUG, and everyone seems to want something different, so I'll just do my thing.
Tank Friend: You should listen to good advice.
Tank: I'm just gonna blacklist them.
Tank Friend: The attitude annoyed me, with the "I know" and all.
Tank: I guess it's my fault for expecting the sprout to keep up with the mentor (Dude had a Burger King crown, though only the combat one)
Other DPS: Can you guys stop?
Me: I'm trying to play, you guys keep typing.
They didn't say another word for the rest of the dun. I've never had a tank yell at me for giving him two Lustrates when he's 1HP, so that was fun.
If it was me and I was heals I’d have let them both die but maybe that’s just petty, but on the other hand war can heal itself *♂️ so might as well test the theory

The weirdest thing was them talking to each other on Party chat. I guess they didn't even have Discord or something.
I also read your story. Maybe the Healer was expecting the Tank to have "a ton of healing"![]()

Would have done the same to be honest. You can't trust PU just because they have a specific class. Also, why is he complaining about you not DPSing more trash ? It's not like 1 or 2 AoE from a healer is gonna change anything in the end... Trash mobs doesn't come with enrage. That tank really need to touch some grass.So... I'm doing the Aery on an alt (I'm SCH) and WAR giga pulls, which is fine. He uses immunity and drops to 1, and because I am me, I spam two lustrates on him because... you know, 1 HP.

Apparently, the WAR couldn't reciprocate the knowledge on other's class thing, since the DPS loss from using Aetherflow stacks on Lustrate rather than on Energy Drain is laughable, specially on trash mobs. If he's that worried about people healing him during his immunity, he should use a macro to warn the healer (like I do with DRK to let healers know they have to let me activate Walking Dead).So... I'm doing the Aery on an alt (I'm SCH) and WAR giga pulls, which is fine. He uses immunity and drops to 1, and because I am me, I spam two lustrates on him because... you know, 1 HP.

Also, being disrespectful to sprouts (during mentor roulette, of all things) sure should be grounds for revoking the crown. You are supposed to help newcomers (let's assume for a moment you were an actual new player and not an alt), not act high and mighty towards them. Only sprouts who don't deserve any consideration are those who are dead set on not learning on things that are VERY basic knowledge because their egos make them assume they're free to play like the want, even at the expense of the rest of the other players or themselves, which is the very definition of stupidity. And even then, the best way to deal with them is to straight up disengage from the conversation and blacklist them (which is something I've had to learn the hard way)
Best example: one summoner I had the misfortune to meet at Aurum Vale who was very adamant on "helping" me by spamming Physics very frequently, not realizing that, with that "help" she was only making things harder for me. The more Physics she casted the longer the enemies would last, the more damage I would have to heal (which was specially stressful for the first and the last boss, because of their ramping dots) and the least resources I would have to keep up with the damage the party took... all for a heal that healed less than a Diagnosis cast. But did she want to stop using that spell? Nay. Even after asked twice. My mistake was trying to argue with her and not dodging straight away.

Another tale for the post:
Doing the A6N, the tank dies to solo tanking the dual blaster from Brawler, which is supposed to be soaked by the whole party, I noted that the boss has to be turned towards the raid when it's loading double blaster only to get some RDM get uppity and trying to correct me. Having learned my lesson on disengage I just said "Sure thing, you're right" and decided to leave it at that. Still, I did feel vindicated when, out of curiosity, i checked the FFXIV wiki and found out that, indeed, it is a party stack mechanic.
------------------------------------------------------
Last but not least: Why is that EVERY time there is tower mechanics or soaking orb mechanics that can be perfectly taken solo there's always more than one going after them? Not that it's going to cause a wipe most time, but it's a gripe I've grown to have, specially every time I get dragged into Nabriales trial, where people go after the orbs en masse, even when they're about to take more than 1 stack of the debuff, or even rush to tank the meteors that only the tanks need to soak. Unless they DO need to be taken as a group, which is not very often, it's just taking unnecessary damage and, sometimes, the very marker is telling you that it doesn't need any more people there.

While grinding for Causality with a friend recently, we had a string of subpar healers that just wouldn't do any damage, and one of them kept casting Cure on me. I saw a couple of Holies (Holys? casts of Holy) go out, then she just spammed Cure whether I needed any healing or not. Was she fishing for a Cure II proc? Baffling. We were in The Lunar Subterrane and (unsurprisingly) the aforementioned WHM had a Burger King crown. Eh, whatever.
On a better note, while running an expert with two company mates the other day we were grouped with a SMN who was excellent. We got out of the duty and took care of other business for about ten minutes before queuing up for a Level 90 roulette, which took over seven minutes to pop... and we got the same SMN, who was once again excellent. The Duty Finder works in mysterious ways.

To the WAR tank I just had on an alt that ran Paglth'an on my SCH:
You were amazing with the mitigation usage. You also did the huge unga-bunga pulls, and I barely had to heal you because of your wonderful mitigation usage. The salve for my healer soul that I've needed for the past two weeks.
Twelve bless ye.
This one is beyond your help. Only sleep can save her now.
Thought it would fit right here. Wiped at double Malboro room in AV because they didn't use a single mitigation (no Rampart, no Reprisal, no Shadow Wall, no Arm's Length)

i dunno man. i like to think i'm p good at lapis manalis. 99% of the time i don't get hit by anything. but this run, i had at least 2 vuln ups on the first two bosses at any given time. got none on cagnazzo though, which is good because... my memory isn't the best, so usually his zoom all over the place gets me at least once. and i've been failing his pushback + bubble aoes recently which... sucks... because i thought i had those down... used to not even blink at them... i dunno. i just sucked today. i was not at my best. i swear i know that dungeon.
anyway, the old thread allowed pf tales... and i just want to say. there's a bait thread going around about rp ads being obstructive but you know what i find worse? the MULTIPLE ads asking for unsynced CARRIES. not unsynced glam runs. not unsynced blu mage spellbook stuff (idk if this is a thing, i have yet to bother with blu). unsynced CARRIES. that is the word they unashamedly use. as if they won't 100% hinder someone if they ever get that duty again in roulettes.

Not succumbing to groupthink since 1991. | Lalafell aren't kids or child-like, and I do not care what your opinion is on that point.
Just a normal World of Darkness run lol

Lol I swear I was on that one last night.
I was clicking on the Aetherflow, and looked back up and suddenly half the party was on the floor. I was like... wtf? I never have to Rez in World of Darkness what the hell? Was hilarious.
Though probably not half as hilarious as the Rhidorana Lighthouse one I did recently both healers were cutscene newbies. Lol I give them an A for Effort, but lol... you can imagine, being... well... Rhidorana. I totally should have comed that RDM on our team though before he left, I think me and them were the only ones keeping everyone upright. We were at Yiazmat and I had already blown my quickcast, so I was hard Ressing (SMN), and the healers had gone down for like the 20th time. And then bingo right at that time one of the other teams brought over the stackup marker and I was already at a sliver... and boom.
Lol my last words were... well guys they finally got us all....
