At this point this entire thread should be removed since it's more focused in trans this and trans that and internet people who said something blah blah blah wth am I even reading here?

ive been mentally thinking this for weeks tbh. i dont get why its up, ive seen moderation happening on it, but yet the gm just wont remove the actual post. its no longer (perhaps never was) about her voice, and is instead some war on ethics that most of us dont want to fight over. Im not trans, and trans issues arent my problem sadly. i hate that this is all this thread is capable of being.
Doesn't meet the criteria to be removed. If you don't use slurs or are very nasty to people it won't be removed because it is the General Discussion forum after all.ive been mentally thinking this for weeks tbh. i dont get why its up, ive seen moderation happening on it, but yet the gm just wont remove the actual post. its no longer (perhaps never was) about her voice, and is instead some war on ethics that most of us dont want to fight over. can i just give you a thumbs up (of relief) for being the first person to actually say my name right
sadly ive seen that happening in this thread, heck i can even quote it. also. 5 other threads were removed even 1 of mine, which werent using any either, some even (again like mine) defending her. i wish that that criteria was consistent

I don't have time to hammer my post too much, but I still wanna budge in: agreeing with Sind [I was meant to quote them, but i cannot find the post i found good anymore??] hard here.
Not gonna as to be understood, if I say I don't really understand why some people think gay should play gay and black should play black, and nothing else is sufficient.
I see that as cold, calculated tactic on part of those, who are very invested in certain people getting role and those outside that group not getting. It's work, it's livelihood, campaigning for that makes someone "look" very virtuous. That's what it is in my eyes at the bottom of it.
Acting skill in itself, and like with all skills to be very very good actor takes some vague, unexplainable aptitude from individual.
I think taking less skilled, less qualified wheelchair actor over more skilled non-handicapped actor is some affirmative action bs. I want disabled and gsrm artists to get job, but not by any means necessary if it means deprioritising the skill needed to do the job.
This is not disabled vs ablebodied conflict, or trans vs "cis" conflict. I am gonna be grumpy if the best choice actor, who happens to be trans gets to eat dirt when the project runs with some less satisfactory cis actor.
I am Transformers fan, I don't much care about the comics but I have watched all, like ALL, cartoons from both NA/JP sides more than once. I am Decepticon kind of girl, but one of my favourite Autobots is Jazz. Alien robot, at best his voiceactors make him sound fun and cool and distinct. Like you hear the characters voice and you just know "yess, Jazz has appeared!". Over the years he has been portrayed by black and white and asian actors. I'm not gonna say which one is my favourite, but the top two picks don't look alike irl. What the good voiceactor looks like, doesnt matter.
Another of my favourites, Samurai Jack. Japanese guy from heavily fantasy induced Edo period, probably, portrayed to perfection by black guy.
So, yeah, never agreed with the The Problem with Apu guy.
Nor I cannot accept miss Sena Bryer reproving another voice talent getting the role of Bridget, just because she is afab.
I think the Hotdiggedydemon guy said it the best: "It is called... acting"

Okay, I was under the impression that they only had 1 movie job prior to this, under what name did they do the male voices? This person who is the VA for a Female character had a mental melt down on twitter/ X over supposed "Trans" characters in anime/ gaming being voiced by Women instead of "Transwomen". Openly called for at least 1 Woman to step down and give her job to a "Transwoman" because the cute, young, girly game character she VAs for is apparently the "most visible trans woman in anime & video games!" and then later they accused Guilty Gear's localization director of launching "a targeted hate raid on trans people who spoke out!".
This is very ironic given that this person is a "Transwoman" voicing a Female Hrothgar. By this logic, they should step down and ask whatever friend gave em this gig (I'm 100% on board with the idea floated somewhere here that this person was hired through a friend/ nepotism) to just hire a Woman, as this character isn't trans.
Makes me think of the Twilight actress when she spoke on this new topic at the time of people asking "Should Straight people be allowed to play Gay characters?" ( iirc This was around the time Scarjo was gonna play a transwoman in the starring role for a movie. The mob did what they do ... so she and her team stepped away from the role. And because it no longer had Scarjo attached, the money people left and the film was never made).
She had the common sense to say that "No, I don't think Gays should be asking for this. Because I'm a Lesbian, and it would have to go both ways. I wouldn't get nearly the amount of roles I get if I could only play lesbian characters. My break-out role was playing Bella Swan, a straight girl.".
Voice acting, however, is one of the few cases where gender plays a critical role to shaping your voice. You can be the best voice actor in the world, and still unable to imitate voices of the opposite gender.
So as long as things are kept respectable, I see no issue of bringing this up in discussion.
We're not blaming her. If anything it's the person who hired her that a lot of us are just confused about. And even by Sena Bryer's own words, she seems to agree with the majority of people in here ironically.
I agree whole heartedly with your entire post. And it's great to read your enthusiasm about transformers!
Whilst I am sure none of us are advocating for gay characters to be exclusively played by gay people, etc etc.
There is a limit to most voice actor's voice repertoire based on gender. There is no way around that.
There are a few, very rare exceptions in this regard, but this reason people are here discussing this subject,
is because she's just not one of those exceptions.
As well as the main criticism being levied towards indeed, the acting. Which is the most important part for a VA.
Which I and others have pointed out in great detail as well. So the derailing of people trying to make it seem
like it's all because of her gender are just straight up wrong. I don't think anyone would've complained if she
played the character more like the other voice actors in the other languages, the way she was intended.
Rather than try so hard on an accent she can not pull off, and act like she exists in a vacuum,
not directing her lines towards anyone in specific.
