    The only place the hard limit matters is open world content, which is worthless to balance around. It is literally impossible, it hasn't been a problem for years. The player de/buff cap is not the same thing as mob de/buff cap and is the thing that keeps causing problems. The amount of debuffs you put on a boss doesn't matter, its the amount of crap on you that makes you dodge your own buffs.

    Puppet Master is already dead. No matter how much people want a real pet job (or even just a real job with any puppetry theme) the fact SE threw Beastmaster under the bus like they promised back at the BLU launch means there is 0 chance anything different happens. Infuriates the hell out of me, but its better to just rip off the bandaid now and not be disappointed later.

    And the problem with the player buff limit is entirely caused by a combo of the fact you now collect buffs in the burst window and the burst window always aligns with mechanics where the boss debuff vomits on you to solve the mechanic

    TOP hello world has what…………6 buffs dumped on you, combine that with like 7 player buffs and it’s no wonder it’s a problem

    Missed opportunities.

    Honestly I had hoped with the latest iteration of SMN it would be remade more akin to the gameplay of PSO2 summoner, where you conduct your pets, rather than cast spells, and can swap between them more at will.

    Of all the classes I've played in FFXIV so far, summoner is the weakest in many aspects. And I say this as someone who loves summoners, and pet classes in general. I chose summoner to level first in Endwalker, and any time I've been called upon to do combat I am honestly very annoyed, because it feels terrible to me.

    Thematically Summoner is my favorite class. It was also my main class for a very long time. I want to love it but as it stands right now, I absolutely cannot, and will immediately shelve it once it hits 90. :/

    Dreams for summoner? Don't use every summon in a rotation. Let us switch between them as we see fit, and bring back the more permanent egi summons. Small wants that I doubt we'll get.

    This job is in such a lose-lose situation no matter what they decide to do with it. I feel like the best outcome at this point is to soft-rework it again with less emphasis on demis so there's room for an actual kit, but yeah right.

    was there a Youtuber that shared that opinion? it's been years since I've bothered with any kind of XIV content creator and the only notable SMN main I remember was Larryzaur. it's kind of sad to look back on his old videos to see how passionate he was about old SMN.

    SE pretty much reworks the job every expansion anyway, it's just that this one needs more... severe changes. it makes me wonder if the dev team is even aware there's literally nothing substantial they can add to SMN without having to rework something. it's like a jenga tower of awfulness.

    My wet, forbidden dream:
    • Objectively separate carbuncle and other summons. So in the game have the physical object "carbuncle" and the physical object X (which will take the various forms of titan, garuda, ifrit, bahamut and phoenix as happens now)
    • The carbuncle has hp and emnity (stats that change based on the subrole)
    • the carbuncle has 3 subroles that can be changed during combat (oGCD) and has an ability that changes depending on the role (2 charges, 30s cooldown):

      - dps: a dot to be placed on the ground
      - tank: provoke
      - healer: radiant aegis 2 (shield + regen aoe short range)

      and in common: searing light and radiant aegis I.
      The smn has one ability to summon the carbuncle and one to swap positions with the carbuncle.
      Auto attacks are based on the subrole at that time:

      - dps -> single target, mid-range, more powerful
      - tank -> aoe, mid-range
      - healer-> single target, long-range, less powerful

      If the pet is not in range to attack, it basically does not attack unless instructed in the pet's commands to compulsively follow the target.
    • During phoenix the carbuncle-healer's auto-attack is boosted and a phoenix point is assigned to the carbuncle. This point can be spent, during battle, as a free use of the unique healer ability.
      During bahamut, the auto-attack of the carbuncle-DPS and carbuncle-tank are enhanced and a bahamut point is assigned to the carbuncle.
      This point can be spent, during battle, as a free use of the unique dps/tank ability.
    • ShB's Phoenix and bahamut return.
    • Emerald rite 1.3s cast.
      Mountain Buster is no longer tied to Topaz Rite but you have 4 oGCDs to use. Each of these, if Titan is still active, has a 20% chance to double the damage of Topaz rite, if titan is not active, to increase potency ruin 3 by 100.
      Topaz rite does less damage than ruin 3.
    • Elemental summons have 1.5s cast.
    • Every time you summon an elemental you have a 20% chance to get a ruin IV.
      When you use Energy drain, you get a ruin IV.
      If the carbuncle dot is active, every 20 seconds you get a ruin IV.
      Ruin IV's maximum stack is 4.
    • After using ruin 3, if you use ruin 3 again immediately after, the damage is increased.
