No. I don't want it to be changed to remove the RNG of fishing because that would completely ruing what fishing is.



The other things are just observations about differences between people with ultimate titles and people with fishing titles.





Also, I find it funny that people want to remove RNG from fishing, but another group wants to add RNG to raiding.

Taking the sh!t out of a sh!t sandwich and replacing it with ham or turkey also ruins the sh!t sandwich but you're left with a better product. . . unless you've gotten so used to eating sh!t nothing else appeals to you anymore.

You know when you see a bigfish title it was earned and that person suffered along with you. Maybe to a lesser degree. Maybe a greater one.

Bragging about self suffering / group suffering is pretty masochistic don't you think? Shouldn't the goal be to NOT want other people to have suffered like you did?

Yeah you're right. It hasn't really been the main focus of this thread (which has been more about the nature of rod fishing itself in this game), but the tackle box issue is a major one, especially as purely practically, there are i believe 85 different fishing tackles at present, which takes up massive inventory real estate.

Yeah I know there's a lot of fishers who joke/meme about the suffering but are actually having fun.
I know a previous comment said about how fishers are jailed and that's just the term we use for when you prep a fish way before it's window. But people see that and think all fishers are suffering.

You can buy/get carried through savage and ultimates tho. You know when you see a bigfish title it was earned and that person suffered along with you. Maybe to a lesser degree. Maybe a greater one.


I've only caught 2 of the current legendaries. Furca is evading me like crazy, and a friend caught 2. I'll still use the title, while this savage tier had no gear i wanted for glamour and p12s will never be touched again.

Fishing is 99% souless dehumanizing time-wasting RNG, you just sit there and wait for the server to bless you with the correct pixel ID, there is basically zero player agency or skill at play
all I know when I see a big fish/final fish/troller is: oh yeah that player was hit by the Sunk Cost.
I know because that person is me, the only reason I continued is because hey I've already wasted x amount of hours doing that garbage minigame, might as well continue right?
Not even the mentor or pteranodon grinds are as garbage, fishing is bottom of the barrel content.

That is absolutely not true, there is plenty of fishing that requires constant action and skill like fly fishing or noodling, and there is also plenty of games that have managed to incorporate fun minigame into fishing that do require effort and skill to acquire the fish, hell we have the updated spearfishing in the game but it never gets used for anything serious other than scrip or aether reduction.

And the skills in game are what your talking about but ultimately catching the fish is still random.
You can attach a mini game to it if you want but I personally would not want it to be guaranteed catches if you do it right. As I said previously the rng aspect is what makes catching them so enjoyable.
I agree on the spearfishing. That is underutilized.
