Avoiding log-in congestion by doing MSQ on my main while hanging out with the Marilith FC that I have alts in. Going to stock up on Squadron battle manuals in advance since I won't have access to my FC's buffs cross data center.

Yes... that's how it works. It releases, then a new raid tier comes out and our gear grows by 30 item levels, causing us to skip mechanics. You most likely know this by now. Just look at Aglaia and how people skip the Nald'Thal balance mechanic now.Well I can tell you it's been that way at least since the HW Expansion. That was my first time playing them and they've always been this way. I joined in ARR shortly before the HW Expansion. I played them during the HW Expansion and they were never much different than they are right now.
SO if they over iLvL'd them... they've been doing it since HW.
Just like how in Weeping City we used to have lots of devastating Ozma mechanics. But once the third raid tier came out, our item level grew by 30 and now we just skip all the mechanics and it's an easy fight.
I would marry Wuk Lamath and live happily ever and after ♥
Hrothgal first.
I'm expecting another DDOS attack on launch, because people are jerks.
Honestly I can't say that about the Stormblood Alliance Raids.Yes... that's how it works. Those could kill me even into Shadowbringers. And the nastiest one wasn't even Orbonne, it was Rhidorana. Interestingly enough even when I get them to this day, Rhidoranna is still a newbie killer, man I watch them die over and over and over and over. Lol This one Sage I was playing with died like 8 times on me, and in the ending battle was only on his feet for like 2 seconds before going down again lol. It is still just as brutal as it always was. Hell even that ending fight in Orbonne can still kill me during the 3 bosses from previous tiers segment happens.
In what is essentially tradition for me at this point (been doing it since HW), I will be leveling one of the new jobs (likely pictomancer) and then take it through the MSQ. Reason for this is that, to be quite honest, the changes made to already-existing jobs, be it addition of new skills or revamp of X or Y system... is never truly enough to make the job feel "fresh" to me, and that feeling of "something new/fresh" is something I look for in new expansions.

I'll be spending all of my time in the character creator making a bunch of Hrothgals till I find the look I like probably won't see the MSQ for days haha.

I've got a whole itinerary planned out. First in the lead up, I'm replaying 6.0's story to get a good grasp of just how long it will take with my current schedule. If it takes a week or more, I'll maybe take some paid time off of work (It's use it or lose it where I work, so this is as good a time as any)
I'm still trying to decide on my new main for next expansion. It's either going to be Scholar like I've been since I started Heavensward's story, or Black Mage which I started ARR as.
Once we're finally in the game, I'll make a point of keeping my gatherers leveled along with my combat job just to minimize backtracking. The crafters I choose to level first will be the ones that can make my crafted gear set once we know what goes into making it.
Plan A for week 1 gearing is to craft my own set before the end of savage week 1, but Plan B if I don't make it in time is to get to endgame week 1, and do normal raids. For both of these, I'll prioritize Left side gear so I can focus on the Extreme Trial for the Right side gear when I don't have any timed gathering nodes to go for. Then there's Materia. Any time not doing anything else, but especially when I've already got the crafted gear, I'll be spamming the endgame dungeon for materia drops.
Then and only then, after I've got a melded set (not pentamelded, but just single overmeld probably), and I'm ready to jump into Savage will I take a break to go level my new DPS main, Viper.
Endwalker was my first expansion, and I started in earnest the week it launched. so I've been behind the entire time. I only just last week beat P8S for the first time (got the mount, haha!), and I'm starting to prog through P9S. I finished 6.0's story just a month before 6.2 dropped, and wasn't able to beat P4S when it was current because of it. That changes here. I'm going to get best in slot for a current raid patch, I'm going to make a billion gil selling other gear sets to people. It's going to be a great time!
