Or, OR, they could just have unlocked it by now like they have every other expansion, wtf are you on about my guy, Yoshida and his teams are going against something they have done every expac for NO reason.People want to have their cake and eat it too. Think about how raiding works in this game.
You pick when you want to raid.
No world contested spawns.
You don't lose experience.
You don't really lose gil (food stays with you, repairs are minor).
Gear drops every time, a set number.
You get tokens to pick what you want if your luck is bad.
You only need 7 other players.
You don't need to farm other enemies to "spawn" the raid boss.
As opposed to:
Raid times set by when enemies spawn.
Having to rush there along with hundreds of other players.
Losing experience when you die.
Sometimes raid mobs don't drop the "full drop" just maybe 1 piece.
No tokens for "participating"
Needing a dozen or more players
Spending days/weeks farming lesser bosses to spawn the "raid boss."
Dying to the raid boss just to wind up not getting any drops at all since you only get one shot.
The list goes on and on. The point is, while the raid content may be different, the environment is designed for casuals. Given that, just do it weekly like nearly every other bit of content in this game.
If anything, if raids could be repeated weekly for unlimited drops, it would go against the precedent the game has followed for 10 years.

Well here are the patch 6.57 https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...f1eef1288f6e60
Finally did it but it took much longer than it should of.

This isn't new and doesn't solve the problem. They always increase the cap temporarily during the last few minor patches leading to an expansion.Well here are the patch 6.57 https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...f1eef1288f6e60

It’s not so much the loot system that is alt unfriendly but the entire game. Not being able to share or mail items (save through an fc chest) or houses with alts is the first thing that bothers me. Why can I have a complete stranger as a tenant but not an alt? Yet I cannot get another house on that alt. Swtor, for all its faults, implemented this thing called legacy cargo hold where we could put items, including in game currency, that could be used by our alts regardless of which guild they were in.
Then there’s achievements: while it makes sense that some can be attached to a character (like story progression achievements), some would be better suited to be account wide (long grinds, mentor status- it makes no sense being a mentor on some chars and be a sprout getting her first time Sastasha achiev on others).
I also bought a story skip on an alt in another region to put in a friend’s FC…the point of a story skip is to skip the story and be ready for action, yet only the MSQ is unlocked. No ex, no raids, normal or AR except CT, no chocobo fighting while in the field, no glamours, no aesthetician, etc.

The whole game is extremely alt unfriendly. You cannot even mail items or gil to your alts.
Cheers

The idea was that being unable to mail things between alts was supposed to help fight RMT, so the bots wouldn't just do all their dailies on every character on an account and then amass it all onto one. In practice, the RMTers just found other ways around it and nothing was really accomplished.

The real problem isn't that people would leave, it's that people would stay subbed and complain here for months because they played for 10 or so hours a day to get their BiS in one week and now have nothing to do. Then unironically follow it up with a suggestion to cap the loot and currency so people play longer so they can fill the PF after the first week for people still wanting to run it or who were unable to run the first week.

All great points. As far as I'm concerned, the main issue with the current loot system is that it is as boring and bland as a mmorpg loot system could be, stats are boring, no special effect on any gear, no rare/fun item you can loot on random mob, it's a perfect example of what is wrong with this game direction : Streamlining to the extreme, everything is on rail and devoid of any originality. That goes for the job design, the loot system and basically every single piece of content that is added.
There is very little thought process about gear. The little bit of choice was removed when they got rid of accuracy entirely. Everything is just so balanced. It isn't like there is some ultra-rare drop that only the very lucky or very dedicated have that isn't immediately obsolete in the next major patch cycle.
As for things being alt unfriendly... the game is designed so you don't need an alt. You can level all jobs, crafters, gatherers, etc on one character. People find corner cases for alts, but in reality, the game really wasn't designed with alts in mind. Asking it to be something it never was is just silly.
I disagree with this because a lot of people would just help people clear, it's been a long standing issue on top of the lack of alt-friendliness, be it another character or job. One of the biggest issues we have with the NA clear rate is that we can't help people without ruining their loot, so on one hand yeah you might wanna gear your healer or tank, or dps, but if thats not an issue, you now can't help people clear without screwing over their loot.
Opening the tier earlier would just make it easier for some of us who do not wanna play with friends who aren't as content inclined as other during prog, and then be able to take it easy and slow prog it with them after we're done with our own personal faster prog. This is equally an issue if you play multiple roles as it is an issue with keeping people from playing together more and helping people who are interested but feel scared to do it on their own.
XIV is not only Alt-unfriendly, it's multiplayer unfriendly.
I really wish there was more incentive to play alts in this game. I have them, because I like to try different races/servers without constant fantasia, but it's a pain to play alts.
