    i actually agree.

    a lot of the dye colours were very "natural" because ARR had this weird hardon for everything appearing to be low-tech and medieval and so most of our dyes skew that way and thus look like poop (metaphorically and for many, literally.) the yellows, oranges and greens are some of the worst contenders for this where there's like 15 variations on piss yellow and baby poop green. reds/oranges don't fare much better either with most of the options being "this belongs on a sign warning you how you will die" and "oops i accidentally put a red shirt in the laundry load of whites with bleach" with no in-betweens.

    i also hate the thumbnail preview swatch things in the menu because they never ever look like that on the equipment. it always varies wildly.

    Just to be fair: colors look differently on equipment because of a "different material absorbs dye differently" thing that they do with materials adjustments (as far as I remember, at least). Kind of how same dye will look differently on different things irl. So yeah, because of that the thumbnail differs from what you see on equipment, and that's also why there's an actual preview for died item.

    But otherwise I agree really - we need both a better selection of colors available and an improvement in how these colors work with materials (although the second one might, somewhat, change with graphic update. Maybe. Maybe not).
