Wuk Lamat's Poor EN Voice Acting

None of my posts have mentioned or talked about Sena being trans. I don't care. I care about quality voice acting. But sure, boil everything down to transphobia and use it to deflect any criticism at all.

Wuk will do one wholesome thing in Dawntrail and Twitter will explode that she is the next Emet-Selch but so far, the character feels like Furry Lyse.

As has been said, and as has now been censored repeatedly by deletion, the voice over segments done in English for patch 6.55's introduction of the character Wuk Lamat were done very poorly.

The voice over work for the patch itself was rather lackluster all around, but Wuk Lamat's rendition was significantly lower in quality than every other VA in EN. This may have been exacerbated by expedited, remote recording conditions, but the fact remains.

I found myself switching to German for the duration of the patch, even though I do not speak it, in order to try and enjoy the character more. This was overall a degradation to the experience, since I could not enjoy the other English VAs that I am accustomed to hearing.

In the censored threads, other players who pay for and love this game echoed this same sentiment for a variety of reasons.

I have played and paid for this game for almost 11 years. I have played and paid for SE's first MMO, FFXI, since 2003. My feedback should matter, just as every other paying customer's feedback should. Feedback should not be subject to deletion, especially when it is genuine.

Please get the Voice Actor for Wuk Lamat training or improve on her performance in some discernible way. Or give us the option to switch out specific spoken characters.

As it stands, her direction in EN specifically comes off as an offensive caricature, does not match the character in other languages, and does not let us all enjoy the character in a similar way, negating the shared experience aspect that make MMOs great.

How was it bad? Asking seriously. I found her voice very fitting and lovely.

I thought her voice was mostly fine. There was a bit of an "amateur tryhard" vibe going, but I think that was the point of the character. My issue was that everyone in this patch felt poorly directed, and several of the voices (most noticeably G'raha, but he's not alone) sounded muffled and poorly recorded.

I feel like Wuk Lamat could be a fun character once she gets more than a few short scenes to actually exist, and she brings some energy that the Scions have been sorely lacking for a long time now, but we'll have to wait until Dawntrail actually gets here to see if she lives up to that promise or not.

Hmm, I've watched vids of this character and without saying something that's gonna get my post deleted ... I'll just say that there are many layers of pretending going on with the VA and a clear lack of talent to pull it off.

As someone whose been excited AF about the addition of Hrothgals for years, I'm greatly disappointed that they decided to shackle an important NPC Hrothgal with this VA in English. I heard her voice in other languages, and they were ALL great ... so yeah, Imma swap over to French or Japanese or German (Languages I don't understand) unless they get a new VA for her. Would be nice if there was an option or mod that just swapped out 1 character's voice so that I could keep the game in English.

Yeah, you want real tryhard voice acting, check out Athena. The way her voice breaks when she tries to yell "The world shall TREMBLE!" cracks me up every time.

You know, I actually did forget about her because I only did the fight about 7 times. That is a pretty lolworthy performance. But then, it's only there for that fight, so it's more of a meme I guess. She's supposed to be a character we hate, too. Not a lovable sidekick that's gonna be an expansion's focus.

But I suppose it does speak to the level of effort they're putting into the quality of the game OTL
