It's not against TOS, surprisingly. A couple years ago, people would write selling/buying contracts using in-game chat so there would be a record. Chat is how FFXIV uses evidence to ban people and people didn't get banned for buying/selling so... yeah. I am pretty sure using real money to buy something from another player is where it crosses the TOS boundary.

It is now against TOS to purchase a house with the intent to resell to another player (regardless of RMT or gil). The Prohibited Activities policy was updated to clarify that when Empyreum was opened.

But players who have owned and used their houses for a considerable amount of time and decide they no longer want them can resell for gil (assuming it's a FC house, of course).

The problem for the GMs is going to be proving the house was purchased with the intent to resell.

So what I am reading is that it is not against TOS because proving you had the intent to resell would be impossible... unless you were dumb enough to brag about doing so using in-game chat (which is how FFXIV enforces and catches people).

It's still against ToS, just extremely difficult to enforce. As you say, someone would have to slip up and say the wrong thing in the game's chat channels.

Or the GMs would need to have leeway on how to interpret a FC being formed, purchasing a house 5-6 weeks after formation, adding a new member a week or two later, that member being made FC Master a month after that with the old FC master leaving the FC. It's extremely unlikely someone is going to decide they didn't want the house after all in such a short period of time after the effort to create the FC and get the house in the first place.

In all honesty, it's the lottery itself that stands in the way of most housing RMT now. You have to be able to win a house for a FC before you can attempt to resell it. Most houseless players don't seem interested in leaving their FCs just to get a house.

WHY does it often feel the Lottery favours other players above me?... I know it's ALL RNG and lottery... but often it just feels rigged and unfair. It's dumb to feel this way... and i can't help it.

The fairness is in chances (unless it's hybrid ward and FC you're bidding with is very wealthy and determined), not outcome.

Yep... and it's basicly a higher demand than there is supply.

I know it's hardly any better than hot air to just say "good luck!!". But small gestures of encouragement like that always improved my mood.
Whether it was tossing all my money into that limbo again bringing it down - or gud forbid walk of shame to get my money back.
